So Jeff, from the combo of Jets-Mets-Islanders only Islanders are doing fine I guess. Talking about Long Island alliance.
RHP Noah Syndergaard has been reinstatedfrom the 60-Day IL. He will be our 29th player and start the second game of today's doubleheader. pic.twitter.com/JVP7Aj6XlL— New York Mets (@Mets) September 28, 2021
I guess I'm missing the need for this. Who cares how he does? If he pitches a no-hitter it won't count anyway!
This should come as no surprise. I always feel bad when someone loses their jobs but he wasn't a very good manager. The club will not pick up the option on Manager Luis Rojas for the 2022 season. Decisions regarding the remaining coaching staff will be made over the next several days. We have offered Rojas the opportunity to remain in the organization in a TBD capacity. https://t.co/Zq6sJmxiDR— New York Mets (@Mets) October 4, 2021
Well, that was the easy decision. Now comes the hard one. And if they don't sign Theo as President of Baseball Operations right away, they may find themselves in the position of trying to hire a PBO who didn't get to pick his own manager, always potentially problematic.
I'm hoping Sandy not to involved with the staffing choices. Don't wanna wake up to find out he hired someone who ends up being a murder or something. lol
Is Billy Beane the guy? Maybe it's just me (who doesn't follow them very closely like you guys do), but I don't look at the Mets roster and think it's that poorly constructed or devoid of talent. They just have a bunch of guys that underperformed it and a lot that all underperformed at the same time which was the wrong time. The bullpen needs to be reworked and they need a another backend 5 inning starter but they have a bunch of .280 hitters that all hit .230 his year for whatever reason including the $340 million dollar man.
Well, there's that Sandy connection. I just wonder, and this may sound stupid, but can BB handle a big payroll and not be tempted to spend foolishly? Too many players had a terrible year and couple that with a shitty mgr and that spelled disaster. It's going to be an interesting off-season. Who gets signed or a qualifying offer, etc. The new GM/President will have their hands full.
Mets make qualifying offers to Conforto and Syndergaard. Seems like Syndergaard will take the $18.4 million (he has said that would be "very grateful" for an offer, and that he is "hoping for" one), but Conforto is more of a question - I guess it will depend on whether teams think he's the .644 OPS hitter he was through August 1, or the .834 OPS hitter he was after that. They have 10 days to decide; if a player doesn't sign, he's a free agent.
Sad R.I.P Just found out that former #Mets reliever Pedro Feliciano passed away last night in his sleep. He was 45years young. He was a really good released but a better person off the field. He will be missed 🇵🇷 #Leones #Cangrejeros. He was jet skiing yesterday with his family. #sad 😟— Eduardo Perez (@PerezEd) November 8, 2021
Michael Conforto will decline Mets $18.4M qualifying offer. Strong interest out there.— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) November 9, 2021
