They tank the entire month of August but are pissed at the fans for booing... Fuck them. I hope Cohen does something about this and soon. They really don't want to alienate what's left of the fanbase or Citi Field will have that empty look again. Nice to see that my concern about the Lindor-Baez connection actually hurting the team has already happened. If the Mets offer him $1 in free agency they're idiots, but I would be shocked if that didn't result in Lindor then being a problem.

Just as I predicted, the talking heads on TV and radio are all over how the fans are being so unreasonable about the moronic behavior of the players. It is absolutely amazing to me that they don't see that when you are paid literally millions of dollars to be out there, you don't get to behave the same way that the people in the stands do. The entire idea of fandom ultimately is ridiculous (why should I like someone because of the outfit they wear?), but it is predicated on the attitude that the players are somehow representing the fans out there. This sort of thing just throws it back in the fans' faces that that isn't the case, so why should anyone "support" you, and care if you do well or do poorly? What is even more amazing are the criticisms that the fans are "butthurt," when it is so overwhelmingly obvious that it is these players who are butthurt. Apparently the more money you make, the thinner your skin becomes. How anyone could root for these guys at this point is beyond me.
