The team is clearly far better than it was at the end of last season, and that’s something we haven’t been able to say for a while. Hopefully Rojas is up to the task, because the Mets are clearly going in fully on 2021
Exciting trade. It can only end up a bad trade if the two pitchers end up being elite, otherwise the swap if major league talent is in our favor.
Rumors are that Springer wants around $175M. That seems like a real high ask. I don't think the Mets or the Blue Jays would give that.
Seriously, nothing leaked out until it was done. Having a functioning; professional FO is a nice change from Jeff leaking shit to the media. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Giving the lineup card to the ump is going to be the hardest thing he does when this team is hitting on all cylinders.
Sounds like the Mets are interested in getting a 3rd basemen. Based on this answer...I’m not confident JD Davis is the Mets 3B in 2021. pic.twitter.com/HcBDSCvoCg— Evan Roberts (@EvanRobertsWFAN) January 9, 2021 They thinking Arenado or Bryant?
I don’t think Cohen would have a problem with that contract, however having to extend Lindor next year and paying Springer would put them too close or past the luxury tax, that is what he doesn’t want to do.
This is not the season to be a high priced free agent. Not many clubs are going to dig deep into their pockets to get him. If his goal is a long term and high priced contract, he may have to bet on himself with a one year deal and hope sports return to normal next year.
When rumors of Cleveland moving Lindor started up I wasn't going crazy at the idea for him for us because with many of the top SS being available next year(Correa, Lindor, Story, Baez, Seager ) I just assumed we'd grab one of them. I'm happy the Mets made the move this season though.
For what they gave & getting Corrasco they had to do it. I’m fine if it means no Springer too, sign Jackie Bradley & another pen guy & let’s go! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I agree, and the fact that there are so many top shortstops available next year means that Lindor's bargaining power will be much less than it would have been. I will be surprised if he doesn't decide to avoid the risk by signing with the Mets during the season (or even before it). I also think that this will have very little effect on decisions to sign or trade for other players now. I think Cohen would happily go into luxury tax territory to make a gigantic splash this year and potentially win the World Series.
Mets close to agreement with free-agent reliever Brad Hand, source tells The Athletic.— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) January 15, 2021 The bullpen should be pretty damn good! He did the oops on us lol Correction: Mets engaged on Hand and in discussions, but two other sources say my initial report is inaccurate and the two sides are not close to a deal at this time. Mets have been interested in Hand since Indians declined his option.— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) January 15, 2021
dj lemahieu Contract is a bit surprising? He got his years but he’s averaging 15 mill a year. Gonna be interesting to see what Springer, Bauer, Realmuto contracts end up looking like. Maybe Bauer follows through with his claim that he’d go to Japan.
