I’ve seen the Phillies, Braves, Marlins, and now Nationals win a Championship and have yet to see the Mets win one. That really hurts. Actually MLB, NFL, NBA I’ve experience no Championships. I’m starting to become resentful.
The Nationals. Just like we all thought it would play out, right? Also, fuck home field advantage, apparently.
Not what I was rooting for, but the Astros are unlikable enough that I'm okay with it. And of course the fact that Bryce Harper is one of the unhappiest major leaguers around this morning helps.
Despite a .317/.361/.487 slash line for Arizona this season Wilmer Flores has been released. Have to think someone will pick him up on a contract worth a few million dollars (he was due to make $6 million next year, and that wasn’t happening).
I always liked Beltran. He was a great player. Whether that translates into him being a good manager. I guess we will find out. Rumors going around on twitter that Terry Collins might be his bench coach. Which I think would be a good idea actually.
Beltran seems like a way better choice than some of the other names floating around, but I would have preferred Girardi. We'll see up close how those two work out.
Wilpons pull back into the lead as the worst owners in sports. Obviously didn’t want to pay Geradi, so they once again go with the cheap option of the untested untried manager. Ok Johnsons, balls in your court Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
supposedly Beltran runs a camp down in Puerto Rico that’s respected for pumping out prospects. idk. maybe he’ll be a good coach then.
Much rather have Beltran than some of the other names being floated around. Obviously my #1 option was Joe, but we all knew that wouldn't happen.
Congratulations to NL Rookie of the Year Pete Alonso! One vote short of unanimous, but still a landslide win.
I’d vote Pete but in a juice ball year I’m not mad at Andrew Baggarly for going with the pitcher. Congrats Pete!
Gotta think deGrom is going to win the Cy, despite my ongoing belief that there are voters who would really like not to give it to someone with an 11-8 record a year after giving it to him with a 10-9 record. Considering that he really wasn't all that great the first half of the season, Ryu had it in the bag, but his horrible August really hurt him. deGrom was clearly better than Scherzer. Since no one other than Strasburg won more than 16 games, it looks like deGrom will become the 11th pitcher to win back-to-back Cy Youngs. Now that I've said that presumably he'll finish third ...
In other Mets-related news, Mike Piazza has been named manager of the Italian national team, and will manage in the 2020 European Championships and 2021 World Baseball Classic. He was their hitting coach in the 2009 and 2013 WBCs. Buona fortuna, Mike!
Jake now amongst some of the best pitchers of all time with the back to back Cy Young’s. A lot to be hopeful about with this team.
He won, and had a great year, but even with his lousy August Ryu outdid him in everything but strikeouts. He deserved the award Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m assuming they asked him to delete it because they probably don’t want anything messing up the Insurance claim.
