On Monday Riggleman and Callaway said how the Dodgers are better than anyone at figuring out what pitch is coming, but not that they're doing anything illegal. Now Syndergaard claims that the Dodgers must have been cheating on Wednesday night because they were hitting his stuff too well? Wow, he's really becoming a joke, isn't he? You've pretty much sucked all season, Thor - deal with it, and get better, jackass.
I hope it’s nothing serious with Jacob. They have to figure out how to get Dom some frequent playing time.
And of course more unbelievably bad fundamentals for the Mets. Hecheverria knocks down a hard hit ball with a man on second, and with no chance to get the runner at first throws it anyway, bounces the throw, and a run scores. Nido pounces on a squibber in front of the plate with a man on first, and totally off balance throws the ball into right field, allowing the runner to get to third. And of course after Familia shockingly doesn't give up a run when he comes in with two men on in the 7th, the first three baserunners in the 8th get on base and he gives up half of the four-run lead before he is pulled.
And two pitches later Gsellman completes the blowing of the lead. This team is such a joke - I really don't know why I subject myself to this garbage.
Oh and what reason was there to take Pete out of the game? He hasn’t been a liability on defense. Way better than we were told to expect actually.
2-5 on the trip, with another pathetic performance (they either lay down and die, or blow big leads). Day off tomorrow - will Callaway be the manager for the game at Citi Field against the Giants on Tuesday?
I think Callaway makes it a few more weeks. The moment Callaway is canned all the fingers start poiting at BVW. As bad as they are playing, only 5 games behind Philly and 4 out of the WC. One can dream right?
In his career Steven Matz has a 7.14 ERA in the first inning, and a 3.28 ERA in all of the other innings. This season the numbers are 10.80 and 2.51, respectively. His reaction to this? "I'm not going to be overly concerned about it." Wouldn't a responsible professional view this as obviously THE most important issue for him to address? Wouldn't a responsible professional pitching coach be doing everything possible to change his preparation, since what he's doing obviously isn't working? And wouldn't a responsible professional manager tell him that if he didn't put in nonstop work trying to address it he'd sit his ass down on the bench until he at least tried something new? It's this kind of crap that makes me think that the Mets will never get out of their own way. I fully expect that Matz will eventually get traded, and in a week be taught some trick to address this problem, immediately becoming one of the better starters in baseball.
Ron Darling will be returning to the booth for the game tomorrow. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...urn-to-booth-after-thyroid-cancer-stabilized/
When you make a debatable decision like that it better work out, and of course it didn't. More brilliance from Callaway.
For a former pitching coach, he makes curious pitching decisions. Also, this backup bullpen not great. Frustrating to see quality starts turn into losses. (Also has to be frustrating for these SPs to get NDs.) Still time to turn it around though #LGM
