Callaway with yet another moronic decision, having Lagares bunt twice with two strikes after he looks pathetic on the first two bunt attempts. He gets lucky with an outside pitch followed by Lagares getting hit, but the decision to bunt twice in that situation is incredibly moronic. Gary and Keith figured Lagares missed the sign on the first one (since it was such a stupid decision), but nope, it was the actual call from the dugout.

Over/under on Callaway being fired by the 4th of July?

Pretty ridiculous ninth inning for Diaz, but the Mets emerge unscathed.

So Callaway just said that he didn't call the Lagares two strike bunt attempts - Lagares did that on his own. He seems to think it's a good play, however. Sigh.

That was crazy. It was very Familia-like.

    Friggin Callaway.

Why does a 24 year old Pete Alonso need a rest after 4 games?

I don't think it's that Alonso needs a day off, it's that Smith needs to get a start. I can't really argue against that.

Meh, with Vargas pitching tonight, it's practically a guaranteed loss anyways.

If anything, with Vargas pitching you’d think they’re gonna need runs to win. Sitting your best hitter certainly doesn’t help with that.

I’d have less of an issue with degrom pitching where you can win with pitching and defense. Although I think Alonso needs to play everyday for the most part.

Five innings giving up 2 runs - that's about as good as you could ever expect from Vargas.

Hopefully the bullpen will be like game 1.

Not hit hard this inning, but Lugo doing a real good job of setting the Mets up to blow this lead completely.

    Hope Nimmo is okay.

Mets will be very lucky to escape with this game.

And is Familia hurt or something? Why would he be unavailable tonight?
