Put it in the books! Cano, deGrom, and the bullpen, 2-0. Mets complete the best 50-year Opening Day run in North American sports history, 38-12.
Cano beast mode for 2019 Better yet apparently he's having a huge effect on the rest of the team with how he hits to the opposite field (says Gary Cohen)
Mets suck FYI: http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/2018-yankees-season-thread.90261/page-28#post-3810337
Love Mets and Yankees equally. I am a badnwagon fan. Whoever makes the play offs is my team for the year.
Alonso with a great game - with apologies to David Wright the Mets haven't had a righthanded hitter with his kind of promise/ability other than Piazza. Syndergaard and Strasburg both with blah starts, and Familia for the second game in a row showing why I hate him. Davis "helps" with a big error, and tying run at the plate for Lugo. Conforto catches it at the wall and the four-run lead remains going to the 9th.
Really stupid managing by Callaway. Mets have an 11-4 lead going to the bottom of the ninth and he keeps his crucial 7th inning man Lugo in anyway, even though Gsellman is warming up in the bullpen. More defensive "help" from Rosario and Cano on a tailor-made double play, 40 pitches later, and Lugo finally comes out with the score 11-8 and a man on second. The jury is very much out on Callaway.
2nd game of the season and Mickey Callaway already shows he’s going to be a problem. Mets defense is probably also going to be a problem this season.
Wheeler looked a lot more like first-half 2018 Wheeler than second-half 2018 Wheeler today. Alonso continues to rake.
So, can we expect Callaway to leave relievers in too long all season? Not sure why he'd have Familia up in the bullpen if it isn't to pitch to the righthanded hitter who had already hit a three-run home run today. Boom - game over.
