Certainly didn't see a sweep coming. Nice to see Rosario going deep for the first time in his career (twice). A good game from Vargas tomorrow would be a very nice followup.
Gotta get two of three with Miami and a split in Milwaukee, at least. Frazier's back soon. Saw that Dom Smith is getting a look in the OF in Vegas and 1B Peter Alonso is doing well...possible reinforcements down the road
Yet another moron who dives into first base, and costs himself a hit, helping end the game for the Mets. Four wins in a row - who'd a thunk it?
Wheeler tomorrow...we shall see. Guy's frustrating the shit out of me with his wishy washy body language and passivity on the hill.
Nabbed Bautista and starting in LF. Hopefully he got in touch with A-Roid and scored a batch...he needs it badly
Reyes with his head up his ass again. No way Wheeler can cope with anything but perfection behind him. Reyes better wake up or he'll be outta here soon enough. Phillip Evans can do better
Nice Mets-Marlins connection today - the Mets obtained Mike Piazza from the Marlins 20 years ago today in exchange for Preston Wilson, Geoff Getz, and Ed Yarnall. Probably the best trade in Mets history, and you can thank Nelson Doubleday for it - he had to overrule Steve Phillips and Fred Wilpon to make it happen.
I realize I was a little unfair to Wheeler - he wasn't awful - but the point that he needs perfection behind him is well-taken. The point that Reyes has been completely useless is also quite valid. Ultimately if can't do better than a .600 OPS against left-handed pitching they've got no shot to be competitive.
Lenny Dykstra arrested in Linden, NJ, for threatening an Uber driver with a gun (when the driver refused to change the agreed-upon destination) while in possession of cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy. He was always an idiot, and years of steroid usage certainly didn't help. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...-arrested-threatening-driver-possession-drugs
Easy to blame Familia for being crappy, but the offense on this team is just completely unacceptable. Fifth time in deGrom's career that he threw at least 7 shutout innings and didn't get the win.
