Yeah, Wheeler sucks - 4 runs, 80 pitches, and he's not even through the fourth inning. Harvey will be coming in in relief soon.

And Harvey comes in and immediately gives up the tie-breaking run. I wonder if he'll ever grasp that he can't throw the ball by anyone any more?

That's ridiculous. Bruce steps right on top of first base, the Cardinals think he didn't, the umpire agrees to check it even though the Cardinals already lost their review, and of course it's confirmed. If you have a challenge and don't win it then you're out of luck - what is this nonsense about a "crew chief review"?

A home run should be an automatic score, even if he didn't touch the damn bases. Another good way to speed the game up.

 

The season was fun. When does football begin? Not shocked by this. Our firstbaseman is 36, second is 32, 3rd is 32, left fielder is 32 and our right fielder. We have no youth. The youth we have in Conforto hasn't come back from his injury, and Rosario is still learning. We didn't have an MLB catcher and the bullpen is smoke and mirrors and the starters were an injury waiting to happen. Look at the teams that are winning. Young exciting players. We don't have any. Going to be a long year. First the Wilpons need to go and take Sandy with them. They aren't selling so Sandy needs to go and build this the right way. Seems like this is the way of the Mets and Jets year in and year out. Like the Jets looks like it will be a long time before the Mets are relevant again. This is sad. Rinse wash repeat. No sustainability. Only the Mets.

I'm more hopeful for Matz getting on a roll than I am with Wheeler. Matz might be doing things to build on for the long term and getting himself into the later innings too down the road...I hope.
