He just joined the team, but apparently Bruce's fundamentals are as bad as his teammates' - an awful slide costs the Mets the tying run in the 9th inning. This team is a joke.
I just can't understand why Mets fans are so unhappy. Bartolo Colon hit the single most important home run in major league history this year!!!
Best news about the slide fiasco is that it might actually help get Collins fired at the end of the year - apparently he didn't even challenge the call because he "didn't think about it." The Mets video guy told him that Bruce was out (which I certainly think he was), but there was absolutely no reason not to challenge - calls that looked correct have been overturned before, and it costs nothing to say the words "We challenge because he was safe, and we challenge because the catcher was blocking the plate." Alderson was apparently not at all pleased.
Five stolen bases tonight, including an unforgivable double steal just now. d'Arnaud really is a bad catcher, much worse than Piazza was.
If TD isn't hitting then it makes no sense to have him behind the plate. Let Rivera play and that's the end of it. Another big homerun late in the game that goes to waste.
And that was an unpleasant non-surprise. Looking to get swept tomorrow by a team that came into the series with a .405 winning percentage! Woohoo!
Terry Collins has a total meltdown in front of the media and storms out of his press conference - embarrassing. Safe to say this is his last season managing an MLB team
Sure am glad that the Mets brought Niese back. Thank God we only have one more month of this moron on the bench. Edit: I hope it's clear I'm not referring to Niese, I'm referring to his manager.
Injuries, injuries, injuries... let's be honest even before the injuries the team didn't look all that great.
