Even though we've kinda turned a page as a franchise , it figures games like tonight still happen to just give us all the reminder that we're Mets fans.
Yup. He's not contributing to the cause. It's lame at this point. Maybe it's better to keep Kelly, for the time being anyway. At least Kelly is a SH batter. Hopefully Sandy is as tired of Campbell as we are. He's had enough of a chance at this point you would think.
Why'd Thor go behind his head in the first place and give the ump a reason (however quick) to toss him? Guy throws 99 - go the Pedro route and forget about going upstairs. Bust his hands. All game long. Have Utley very uncomfortable. If he accidently dings Utley's hand or wrist, well them's the breaks.
Thanks NYGP. I saw Keith and Joe Buck in the booth during the game mention that Keith started crying when Ray Knight came out, and I was touched and wanted to see the ceremony. Ray Knight was an unsung hero of that team and it was great to see him recognized. Him, Keith, and Bobby O were my favorites.
Got it (didn't originally see it, just heard about it - thx for the video). My point was about throwing BEHIND a batter (which is pretty much recognized as going over the line when it comes to intent): with ONE PITCH the Mets handed Utley the advantage. The umps already know about the bad blood between the Mets and Utley so of course they're going to nip anything they view as a potential threat in the bud. As a result, Utley was left sitting comfortably in the catbird seat facing lesser pitchers and knowing that the ump behind the plate had his back and that no Met pitcher was going "inside." Better to have had him uncomfortable all day long, with each pitch. Bust him inside, maybe follow with a backdoor slider or a fastball outside for "sequence appearances"...then bust the s.o.b. leg-breaker again inside.....and very hard on the wrists at that....repeat, non-stop.
It's a good point. Liked the Pedro reference. It's hard to say what Noah's intent was. I think he was trying to hit him. Which would've been a better end result for us imo. He tried too hard tho I think. Obviously it didn't work out well the way it went down. Kudo's for Noah for being the guy that at least tried to put Utley in his place even tho he didn't execute it the way he should've. I 'll chalk that up to inexperience and the state of MLB compared to the older days. Ron Darling would've hit that scumbag straight up It's a shame. Utley got off easy. A bench clearing would've been a bad thing for him

Nice to see Wilmer back..might as well throw every righty out there and see what happens. Kershaw is pitching on another level right now. Gonna be tough.
Reynolds a goner with Wilmer back. Time for Campbell to get something done tonight or gtfo when Loney shows up
I dont get why hitters still swing at Kershaw's pitches. None of his swings and misses land in the strikezone. Just dont swing!
Just turned the game on, kids went out to get ice cream. Holy shit the national broadcast sucks. All these guys. And the chick. Wtf. Give me Gary and Keith and Ronny. _
Lol If our Catchers are gonna hit .150 we gotta lose Campbell asap Please Sandy. It's become torture watching him now
