Ive never seen a team swing at so many bad pitches. Its like the entire lineup outside of Cespesdes is pressing.
I never want to see Eric Campbell take an at bat again. He is a total waste. Rather see Reynolds fill in at first. Wish Flores were back. _
It's crying out that they need to get a guy that bats LH off the bench that can play 3rd base, and maybe another position, even 1B. Play Wilmer and the new guy in place of Duda and Wright in platoon roles, and add strength to the bench. Hopefully a player. Not just an average guy. A guy that covers the middle of the lineup. Campbell, Plawecki, Wright against RH pitchers is getting ugly. I'd rather replace DeAza than Campbell because of Campbell's versatility in the field and he can run also.
Not sure I agree with David swinging in that spot but I'll take it. Sweep tomorrow and go into Washington on a high note.
That was actually a good at bat for Wright. If he can just swing to make contact and go up the middle and the other way he might turn it around yet. Forget about HR's and pulling the ball. Adjust. He's walking a lot also. Hopefully he's close. If nothing else he was always a good hitter. Maybe he'll contribute yet with the bat. Warmer weather will help.
If he can somehow be convinced to cut down on his swing and become a singles/doubles hitter I'd take that in a heartbeat. He always had power to right center, just put some balls in the gap and it would make a huge difference to our lineup. We've got other guys to hit HRs. _
As ugly as they are, they will always hold a special place for me considering it is what I visualize when thinking of the only Championship in my lifetime (although I was a toddler in 69)
Which is a problem considering we went into the season with an "ace" 1-4. Harvey and DeGrom have been worrisome.
I think it's a fatigue carry over from last year's stretch run with deGrom and Harvey. You could see the fatigue setting in with deGrom at the end of last year. They were very cautious with deGrom this spring. Harvey lost his swagger when he couldn't figure it out immediately. The Mets have to protect them and be cautious. I think deGrom is good now, and Harvey will be eventually. As long as they're healthy I'm confident in both of them, especially deGrom. I think deGrom is a fantastic 'pitcher' and even if he never got back to his max velocity he would be excellent. Health is the key.
DL stint likely coming up for Duda..if Im Sandy Im working the phones this morning to see what first basemen is available out there. 2+ weeks of Campbell would not be a good thing.
