Let's be honest. This season is only going to go downhill from here. They will never be anywhere near 8 games over .500 again.
Can we fire Collins now? 3-2 game, bottom of the eighth, TOP OF THE ORDER and you don't go to your Closer? Then its 4-4 in the ninth, heart if the order and you still refuse to go to Francisco. So you go 2 innings in a one run and a tie game, and your closer never sees the field ????? He's given up 1 run in his last 9 appearances and hasn't seen the field in this series. Note to Collins.... Francisco is a CLOSER, not a ninth inning guy. The bottom of the eighth was the CLOSING MOMENT, and not having pitched in 4 days, he could have gone 2. 13/14 blown save opportunities, and worked to give this one get away. 'we had Frankie up for the middle of the order' ?!?!?!?!? WTF?
The fucking problem was not bringing in your closer to face the top of the order, in the bottom half of the eighth. FCOL, the guy hasn't pitched in 4 days, he should have had 6 outs. But even if he didn't, the Eighth inning was the moment.
This team is finally starting to play like what most expected for the season over the last 6 games. God awful bullpen, lack of a real lineup and just poor leadership. They overachieved for the first 2 months of the season but now that the meat of the schedule is upon us we find out what most of us knew and they're just not good enough to compete with the big boys.
According to radio talk you guys are in the hard part of your schedule right now and if you can come out of it over .500 the radio guys think you are in good shape. You caught a tough break this series getting Johan's poor performance and then losing on walkoff. See you guys at Citi in a week or two
Bullpen is awful besides Byrdak. I was fortunate enough to miss the game today, did Jason Bay do ANYTHING? I hate to get on this guys case because he is clearly struggling and its not like he doesn't care or lacks effort, but he is a monumental disappointment. Yankee stadium is certainly not our type of ballpark being we lack such power, so hopefully well be able to win a game or two against these schmucks at citi....hopefully.
No competition ace, you by a landslide. fwiw, Mets are 1 - 6 since Bill Maher bought a share of the team.
