Sandy is on 'Baseball Night In NY' on SNY tonight @6 and 10. After the Cespy presser he said that there was still maneuvering room with the payroll for trade deadline roster tweaks like last year. Payroll now @140 mil approx.
HOLEE SHIT. Jenrry Mejia tested positive for PEDs for a thrid time, hit with lifetime ban. What a piece of shit. _
Pete Rose and Mejia are the only two players in MLB History to receive lifetime bans. You have to TRY to be that stupid!
I saw him trending on twitter and thought nope, won't be peds related. He can't be that stupid. Turns out he is that stupid.
Meija should've been kicked to the curb after the 2nd ban. He was already slated to miss 100 games this year so no huge loss IMO. Total moron though. Idk how you can be that stupid.
One of the baseball writers just texted Michael Kay and said the stuff he was caught for is one of the easiest PEDs to mask and that the Balco guy would never have let that happen. Career suicide. _
As noted above, the team couldn't have seriously been counting on him for anything this year, so it's way less of a problem than the second ban was (or could have been) during the 2015 season (it's easy to forget that if the Mets hadn't happened to get Clippard the day before Mejia got hit for the second time all of the Cespedes exploits still might not have been enough). Supposedly he looked bad when he first started pitching in winter ball in the Dominican Republic, and then got a lot better after four games. Getting some of the rust off? Getting some chemical assistance? Who knows. Either way, it seems pretty clear that he didn't think he could make it in baseball without the PEDs, so from that point of view it wasn't really such a strange choice for him to make.
I can see that side of it. But how about he gives it a try without the PED's before making that assumption. To get busted this many times that quickly just says to me that either he isnt very bright or has some bad people around him. Probably both. To me he was never very good even at his best. So yeah he probably wasnt a major leaguer when clean. But now he'll never know.
Even with that he cost himself a million dollars. He could have had a 10 ERA for whatever time he pitched this year and still gotten paid a million dollars. Now he gets bupkus. Heck he cost himself more than that with the initial suspensions. That's the epitome of being stupid for stupid's sake. If you're convinced you can't make it without the stuff then AT LEAST be smart enough to stay clean long enough to get paid.
Dummkopf! I was holding out hope he could get his shit together and be part of the reinforcements later in the season along with Wheeler, and make our staff that much deeper Oh well. C-ya Mejia
Steve Howe also got one but he appealed it and was reinstated. I can't remember the number of times that guy got suspended for coke use. Died when he crashed his truck. On chrystal meth. _
I think its safe to assume that Bastardo and Reed will be the guys to get it to Familia. Just curious to see if Terry puts them in set roles or plays matchups. One good thing about Bastardo though is he isnt just a lefty specialist.
We had a rookie pticher last year maybe start 4 games(at most). Verett or something is his name ring a bell anyone where does he stand in becoming possible relief
He's in the picture. Don't forget Robles to go along with Reed and Basstardo. You also have Edgin and Blevins coming back. There's also two prospects that are on the 40 man roster that will get a look, among other guys.
