He's not the only one on our staff who had Tommy John. You don't see Degrom or Matz complaining. There is also something going on with him. (Manziel, C.C.-esque). When Wheeler comes back, Matt will be #4. But if we trade him in the off season we could get somebody really good. He's gotta go. It's the right move.
lol, right move if your hobby is smoking crack. For Aaron Judge maybe, but they're not getting him. Would make infinitely more sense to trade Matt Harvey
They're further removed from it tho. Wheeler will be limited next year. When he's actually ready, which could be late in the season. You might be right about Harvey's 'night life' tho Boris is the biggest PITA, his tactics at least, for the whole front office and team I guess we'll learn more this off-season about Matt's status with the team
probably right, woops my bad The problem with looking ahead is that the reality is Fred Wilpon isn't going to re-sign Yoenis or Murphy and isn't going to pay real money for any new bats. So yeah you gotta make some trades for thse arms. There is such a thing as too much pitching, ask the "dynastic" (ROFL) Phillies of 2008 and their retarded shit for brains GM Ruben Amaro Jr
I don't think Yoenis will take any offer from the mets until he tests the market, that being said, they should offer him a 5 year, 20 mil a year contract. It will make him rich, we can keep the pitching and solidify the lineup, then he can still be free after 5 years. I think a lot of these GMs are getting smarter about these crazy long term contracts that have been given out. Don't be surprised if no team offers him anything longer than 5 or 6. The Mets should be in the running to resign him if that's the case.
The guy turned the worst offense in baseball into the best offense in baseball. He's going to want more than 20 mil a year and he deserves it. His value to the Mets is much more than a lot of other teams in the league and he's proven it. Of course I want to pay him whatever he wants but will the Wilpons?
It's going to be a hard sell from Alderson to get the Wilpons to pony up, at this point Yoenis has shown to all of Baseball that he may not be Albert Pujols great, but he can improve anyone's lineup. It really boggles my mind that a player who does not hit 50 HR on a consistent basis can demand more than 20 mil a year, thats an insane amount of money.
Last time I was pulling for the Mets was when this happened... Be cool to see them face the Cubs in the NLCS
I don’t think its right to speculate whether or not Harvey has a substance problem. Geez lol Harvey just came off his first year off TJ surgery and he’s been a top 10 pitcher. I’ve been more than fine with his performance on the field. Imagine how he’s going to be next year. He didn’t pitch well last night. It happens. It was disappointing, but I was actually kind of proud of him last night. He didn’t have good stuff yet when they got him the lead, he kept it. I did kind of notice last night, which I didn’t really notice on tv that Harvey gain some weight. I just pulled up field box tickets for $200. Tempting!
I think at some point the Mets should think about trading Harvey...Even if he pitches lights out the rest of the way to get assets and then to resign the other 3 pitchers to long term deal. Some team, even the Yankees will throw Boras type money at Harvey and it makes no sense to keep him when the fans are begging for the team to resign Cespedes and maintain a solid lineup throughout
Actually, I noticed him a little heavier early on in the season. I figured he was naturally filling out as he matured. Go to the game
I remember seeing that catch and saying to my buddy, "we are going to win." Unfortunately it didn't happen.
I hope deGrom is just getting work in. Its would make zero sense bringing him in the game if were trailing.
