Again I think it has less to do with Harvey and more to do with Noah. Harvey looks to certainly be a quasi-douche but Noah literally fell off the back of a possible pumpkin truck. He's a big innocent doofy kid in a man's body. When we did the fantasy draft at Citifield last month he could barely hold a conversation and when he was interviewed by the chick from FOX it was like he needed que cards to go through his lineup. Great kid but easily intimidated. Not sure Harvey is ragging on him to make him that way. I would just imagine big personalities intimidate him. Having said that, I met Harvey last year and he is incredibly full of himself. But with that talent, it's understandable. Not everyone can be David Wright. _
I understand what your saying. I think it's part of him being a kid. Some people grow up and mature at different rates. It was that part of him that made me question him this spring in my first impression, and also led to some negatives in his scouting reports I bet. He's awkward, or uncomfortable, around people, and finding his way as he grows up, I think. I think he portrays an image to protect himself...A kind of defense mechanism. People read his discomfort and read negatively into it, or don't like the aloofness he uses to guard himself. He's changed before our eyes and is much more comfortable around his teammates than he was even a couple of months ago. Harvey's an exception. He's mature and advanced beyond his years. If he's gonna bully other dudes and take advantage of a kid struggling, I say fuck him. That may not be it. But at this point it's being talked about. Other than Harvey it looks like Noah is more and more comfortable around teammates and the coaches. I bristle at the idea of Harvey fuckin with that kid. Especially when it's becoming clear where Harvey's coming from himself. If that's true about Noah, I guarantee you there's people in that organization that have a strong dislike for Harvey
The get-in price for NLDS game three on Monday is now $300. That's more than World Series tickets were going for at Yankee Stadium in 2009 Average ticket price is around $750 lol
Dude you're right. I'm so thankful we went for Metropolitan box $270( which is about what we paid for the Yankees series) when we did, other wise we'd be out of luck. The thing that really scares me about kershaw is that he's going to feel like he has something to prove.
I usually dont think very much when an average pitcher goes from an AL team to an NL team , and then pitches better , but wow Arrieta has found something great in Chicago. The run he's been on in the 2nd half has been about as good as any pitcher in the last 20 years. If we were to get by the Dodgers Id much rather see the Cards in the next round.
But again, who brought it up? It certainly wasn't Wright or Collins. The media noticed it and asked the questions. They are once again trying to make it out like it's the end of the world for the Mets. Wright sounded like he was just surprised by the question and dodged it. Looks like I was right about this, because they spent more time yesterday talking about Harvey than CC or the Yankees getting shut out. Mike & Mike were actually advocating trading him after the season or even sitting him in the playoffs, which is absurd. He was late to a workout, it wasn't even a practice. They were even bashing him on the Michael Kay show. I think there is an agenda with Kay for sure. He wants Harvey on the Yankees. I'd cry if that happened. Harvey really hasn't done much wrong. A controversial comment to the media blown out of proportion, and late to a workout. I can think of far worse. They just look for any excuse to discount the great season that the team has had. Harvey needs to stay long term.
Twenty-four other players made the workout. Harvey didn't. That's not the media's fault. The media didn't invent David's reaction or Terry admitting Harvey didn't realize he was late till an hour into the workout. And we're not talking about a workout in June either, we're talking about one on the eve of the playoffs. And if you think Harvey's staying long-term you're just not paying attention to the strained relationships between the team and Harvey and between the team and Bora$. I've been suspect of Harvey since before the season when he said on that E:60 special that I'm a Met...now. If anything this Harvey nonsense is overshadowing just how badly the Mets entered the playoffs and blew home-field advantage.
What an incredible atmosphere Rogers Centre has going on. So far in these playoffs it's been all road teams.
Any chance Harvey was late on purpose in an effort to get traded this offseason? For whatever reason this guy just doesn't like the Mets anymore, which is shocking considering how much his ego loves the spotlight. Does he think he'll get traded to the Yankees? Hard to get inside the head of an egomaniac. I personally thought the guy was a major tool when he dubbed himself Batman or whatever he likes to be called, but now he's going out and proving it. This asshole was supposed to be a major part of the post season. I love Degrom and he is by far more classy and arguably as good of a pitcher, but I always envisioned it was Harvey game 1 and Harvey Game 4. Harvey acted like such a bigshot you'd have thought nothing else would be possible. Hopefully he just goes out and performs, that's all we care about him, not what skinny rail-like "supermodel" he's banging.
I feel pretty good about this series. But if we had Harvey going in 1 and 4 like you said. I would feel insanely confident about us winning the series. As for his lateness. It is strange timing. And its a little weird that it was him that was caught in unknown traffic. You really gotta oversleep to miss a 12pm workout. If he's hoping for a trade he's gonna have to be happy pitching against the Yankees cause there's zero chance the Mets are trading him there. Not even for Bird, Serverino and Judge. Hope he enjoys Baltimore, Boston or Houston because IMO he's gonna be pitching in one of those places next year.
Crossed my mind. Maybe something with a woman, or women? Who knows? Amazing how the promise has faded with him. We kinda liked him as the leader and spearhead. He doesn't care about that tho. The Mets were none too happy with the way Harvey and Boris tried to dictate terms and direction with them either. Fuck them...trade him Maybe things went the Mets way over the course of events this season? We ended holding on to Wheeler, and he, deGrom, Noah, Matz, and others can still be a top formidable staff. I like those guys too
After his blubbering in the locker room during the clincher celebration I actually thought there was a chance that could happen or something similar.... Gonna be a good hot stove this winter, lol
9 YEARS FOR THIS DAY! I was 15 when Beltran struck out in the NLCS, cried my eyes out that night in my bedroom. Lets get it after it tonight! Score an early run or two vs Kershaw and we will see him crack under the pressure. The fans will start booing, he'll get nervous, and start thinking about how everyone will say he cannot get it done in the postseason.
The guy made a mistake. It's not the end of the world. He's coming off Tommy John surgery, but he's the type of guy that LOVES to play, so he doesn't like the restrictions. He wants to play, but he has to think of his career as well. If he re-aggravates the injury because they pitch him too much it hurts both the Mets and his career. To me it's all drama. A dude leaving the team in the post season to go to rehab is far worse. I cannot wait for tonight. deGrom vs Kershaw should be a great matchup. I'm not overly worried by how the season ended. They clinched and they rested folks. This is going to be a fun series. The mets haven't been here in like a decade. I can see it going the distance.
I agree--I think it's less of a big deal than many are making of it. And I'm not all that torqued off about it. Keith was on Michael Kay yesterday and he said that you have to understand who Matt Harvey is. He said some guys like to be the bad guy, some don't. Harvey likes to be a bad guy. When he came to the Mets we were a bunch of pussies and he changed that perception of the team--he basically said fuck you, we're coming after you. And as for the intimidation thing with Noah--he said a lot of what makes the stars truly stars IS intimidation--that's how he approaches the game--that's his personality. If it means he intimidates people-even his own teammates--I don't think he cares. Having said all that, Keith was completely mystifyied how Harvey could miss the workout--was totally wrong but Terry took care of it. I'm still on the Harvey bandwagon and I don't want to be rid of him until it's absolutely necessary--we still have him for a few more years--lets ride it out. No need to decide this offseason--things change. _
