Then it would be Pedro-Perez-Maine-El Duque-Pelfrey. I have to say, that looks pretty average. If Duanar comes back, that's huge. Wagner-Sanchez-Heilman-Felicano would be pretty awesome, with Show as the lefty specialist. Add a long man and maybe Joe Smith (or another righty specialist) and that's pretty money. I didn't realize Alou was coming back next year... for some reason I thought he was done. So really, the question is on the right side of the infield and at catcher, I believe. And who manages this team? There's that, too.
you met fans are great! how can you hang this on willie? going into the season omar didnt put a pitching staff together....he gave willie a solid lineup, but thats it. hanging his hat on 60 yr old el duque and hoping for pedro isnt really a great 1-2 punch. reyes is a giant loafer and he went invisible starting in september...but its willies fault? i hope the mets do fire willie because he deserves to manage a team that is well constructed. id love to see willie come back home to the bronx.
Alright, let's say L-Millz is traded. To who? For what? Milledge/Pelfrey/Humber+someone else for Santana? What do you want?
Marlins could say whatever the hell they want, if we had a pitcher who wasn't garbage going today, what they say means absolutely nothing
Forgetting Glavine and Perez this past week, what was so bad about the rotation? Yes, the bullpen didn't have the players, but the rotation did ok. It's on Willie, clearly, because of many of his in game decisions and his attitude in the midst of a clear collapse. He managed the team with no urgency, and this is what happened.
Pick up Alou's option and platoon him. He's always been a very good hitter; he's just not reliable for an entire season.
Do you guys think Willie actually will be fired? We all think he should be but does Omar admit the mistake and fire him? I'm not so sure about that..
It depends on how this collapse is spun. If the networks are playing Willie's "This'll make the champagne taste better" quote, and wondering why he started Humber, or why Gomez got more playing time than Milledge following his suspension...then maybe the outcry is too much for Omar to ignore.
That's ridiculous, the pitching staff has been atrocious. First of all, you can't forget about Glavine & Perez this week, they came up small in huge spots. How about Maine last week, Pelfrey, Humber?
The hell if I know. I don't know who is available. All I'm saying is it will be addition by subtraction.
I'm not sold on Duaner returning to his 2006 form. He'll be one and a half years removed from pitching in a live game in 2008. However, he's still young and he won't cost much to re-sign, so I'd do it anyway. Alou has a $7.5M club option for 2008.
El Duque must go. Two consecutive years he broke down at the end. His recent injury was a big reason for the Humber start.

To be honest, i don't think the Mets need that much tweaking, they were the best team in the NL for most of the year... I think they should just blame it on someone and move on.
you're trolling... if you wanna trash trash talk go to the trashing talking forum where it's allowed...
