Every once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut.

In the end, it came down to one day and One Third ruined it.

I'll go ahead and float this out there...If Torre gets canned, do we make a run for him? I'm really unsure. On the one hand, he has 4 titles, but on the other, Willie learned everything from him.

Or maybe the guys who jumped off the bandwagon weren't real fans to begin with.

Why the hell would you fire a Torre clone just to get the real thing?

Well, Torre has proven success. That was my point. I agree that he shouldn't be hired, but I don't agree that it's an easy decision.

    Well then.

Alright, if Willie were fired, who would you hire as his replacement? Realistically, I mean.

Well, you'd need someone who's the opposite of him personality wise. Or else there's no point in making a change.

Buck Schowalter would fit the mold.

Okay, that was a little strong, but since Willie learned all he knows (such as it is) at the feet of Torre, and Torre is 67 years old, IMO there is absolutely no reason to consider him as a replacement.

To be honest, I don't know who would be a good replacement, which is okay, since I'm not a GM. I do agree with M&M that someone who believes in accountability would be a good choice, but Showalter doesn't really impress me all that much.

I would hope that there was a good bench coach or minor league manager that could fill the bill if necessary.

I could live with Showalter, I think. I wish they could convince Bobby V to come back, but I would count on that. I guess I'm with you, that I don't really know either. Of course, this is a moot point, because Willie is of course staying...

Someone who's forward thinking and knows how to maximize his players' abilities. Acta would be the ideal.

The last thing this team needs is an egomaniac as a manager

haha, we all know Willie is not a good manager, he wasn't a good manager when the team was one big hit away from playing in the WS either. This team needs better pitching and more fire in their lineup more than they need a new manager.

I'm not sure what they can do about the pitching, Omar is going to have to make a trade or two in that area. The guy for the lineup I would target is Rowand, he is just the kind of guy they were lacking this year. Probably not likely but I would play him in CF and move Beltran to RF, they you could use one of the young OFers as a trade chip.

You overrate his CF play, based on one play he made last year against us. Whether you guys like it, or not, Beltran is a top 5 fielding CF.
