We have very different definitions of fine - two walks and a double are not in any way fine from my point of view.

Everyone is twitchy because of the way things have been going lately. I would've given Feliciano Uggla. He got a hit off Smith last night and Smith's control is terrible.

    L-Millz hosed on another call.

Is it me or do the Marlins continue to throw at Mets every inning?

And yet another moronic decision on the basepaths by a Met to end the inning.

You can look disgusted, Willie, but this is happening over and over, and that's on you. If Gomez isn't smart enough to know when to run, then you give him the stop sign and he won't run.

glad to get the win, but this cuteness with show is going to come back to bite the mets in the ass in the next few games.

Schoeneweis with the great job and the Mets win. They still suck, but I'll take it.

You know, I thought the Mets don't have a chance in hell of winning the World Series, but I just watched Scott Schoeneweis finish off a 4 out save highlighted by 3 strikeouts during a crucial game for the Mets. So anything's possible.

I just hope Willie doesn't use this game as a reason to overuse Mota now like he is using Sosa

It seems like these base running mistakes have started happening more since Ricky became a full time coach, coincidence?

Well, Rickey certainly liked to run as a player. Alot. The year he set the modern day single season SB record he was on base 262 times and had 172 SB attempts. That means 65% of the time he got on base he was attempting a SB. Compare that to a guy like Reyes who has by far the most SB attempts in the league this year and averages a SB attempt every 35% of the time.

That being said I don't think Rickey is telling these guys to try to steal 3rd with 2 outs. Maybe he's encouraging them to be more aggressive but as jeff has noted aggressive doesn't have to mean stupid.

Milledge is starting his suspension today for some reason, despite lefty starting pitchers on Sunday and Monday. Not quite sure why he wouldn't wait till Tuesday to drop it since there are 3 righty starters in a row then.

i'm sorry, this is lousy baseball. how the hell are you going to play for 1 run in the first inning? especially with a terrible pitcher on the mound for the marlins.

I didn't get that either; Castillo should hit in that situation, though I suppose it's possible he was bunting for a hit.
