according to gamecast ball 1 and 2 to tatis were clearly strikes, one of them being right down the middle, both which would've struck him out. hard to tell how accurate that stuff is though.
Parnell is the only pitcher left and I don't think there are any bench players left. K-Rod is up over 40 pitches. Not sure how much he'll be able to pitch against the Phillies. He pitched yesterday too, of course, but that was only 9 pitches.
Because it's not like it's important for him to be able to pitch tomorrow or anything. Oh, wait ... (Actually, Parnell is the only guy left, and do we really want to see him out there?)
He has to pitch some time. I can't really see any situation in July that warrants having your closer out there throwing 50 pitches.
It's awesome isn't it? Maybe we can have a 2004 redux where an absolutely awful team limps along enough for their lame duck GM to make a series of terrible trades in a last ditch effort to save his job.
At least this time we don't have a prospect the caliber of Kazmir to just give away. I still don't understand how Jim Duquette thought that was in any way a reasonable move.
Braves beat the Phils 5-2 for a sweep. As impossible as it seems, the Mets are only 1 game out of 1st. That's what happens when you lose 14 out of 18 games.
