Looks like Murphy is starting today and Beltran is going to the 2 hole!

murphy with an endy chavez catch against the wall in left

heck of a play especially considering how he looked on several fly balls before that

also, duaner sanchez is terrible and shouldn't be pitching. dude is trying to survive on his changeup when he's throwing his fastballs in the mid 80s. mets got very lucky there.

nice play to double 'em up there for someone playing out of position.

    It was an excellent catch.

If Sanchez keeps it up and the Mets suck less than the Phillies and Marlins down the stretch, then he must not be on the playoff roster. Maybe Orlando Hernandez can come back and pitch out of the bullpen like he did with the ChiSox in '05. To do that, I think he would have to pitch at least once before 8/31. Maybe the Mets can wheel him out for one appearance this month.

Looks like Manuel did the only thing stupider then leaving Sanchez in and brough Show in to pitch to 2 switch hitters and a righty. Miracuously he only gave up 1 run and didn't leave any runners on base for Smith.

I was not aware that Darin Erstad still plays baseball.

You learn something new every day.

murphy almost saves the game again but castro drops the ball

    billy wagner should kill himself

edit: apparently murphy was taken out so that was tatis in LF that almost threw loretta out at home.

this game might be over if manuel(or the umps) knew the rules, loretta should've been called out, castro didn't need to hold onto the ball, it was a force play at home and you can't run into the catcher in a situation like that.

    That was Tatis in left.

Also, this has to be at least the 4th or 5th game that Johan started that Wagner blew. It seems like every time Wagner blows a save, he takes a win away from Santana.

Whats amazing is how this bullpen can be this bad and what's more amazing is how that idiot Omar failed to do anything to fix it. Maybe with Livan Hernandez available we'll bring in another Latin player well past his prime.

Heilman losing the game here was a foregone conclusion. I'm starting to agree with the point Cakes made a few weeks ago about these awful bullpens ruining baseball. I mean, the Mets are going to lose this game because Wagner couldn't get Ausmus, Blum or Loretta out. These guys OPS .600, they're terrible. What a joke.

Can anyone confirm that Wagners 7 Blown Saves are the most in baseball?

He's now tied with Izzy and Okajima for the most in baseball.

Erstadt swings at ball 4, Tatis falls down for no reason and the Mets lose. Perfect.

See, that's always a temptation. But then instead of seeing a scene straight out of fucking major league where 2 astros slide into home at the same time to tie the game you just see "blum singled to left, lorretta and pence scored". Same with the last play of the game, you miss Tatis tripping over his own feet on a line drive hit directly to him and then falling, costing the Mets the game, you just get "Erstad hit a sacrifice fly to left".
