Actually a fair amount of the blame for Church's concussion should fall on the Mets coaching and training staffs. Clearly he was rushed back before he was fully healthy, and it made the complications from his concussion worse.

That was a second time though, correct?

Oliver Perez now having knee surgery. This is ridiculous. I've never seen anything like this.

So.... when should I expect a call from the Mets front office for a try-out lol.

This is unbelievable. I have never seen a team so destroyed by injuries. Castillo is the only player from opening day thats still healthy, right?

Rare Centuple Play Ends Mets' Season
    August 27, 2009 | | Onion Sports

MIAMI—In a sudden end to a trying year, the Mets' Jeff Francoeur lined into a rare centuple play against the Florida Marlins Wednesday, which by rule cut New York's season short. "I hit it on the screws, but it just happened to be in a spot where they could turn a hundred," said Francoeur, who watched helplessly as Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez tagged everyone in the Mets dugout before heading into the clubhouse and tagging both equipment manager Charlie Samuels and physical therapist John Zajac. "You take a risk by starting the runners but I didn't think he'd have enough time to run up to the executive suite and get [Mets GM] Omar [Minaya] and [team owner] Fred [Wilpon]. I guess by the 80th out we'd all just given up." This was the most outs recorded on a single play since the 2004 Montreal Expos were eradicated from the league after hitting into an ∞-play.

Well, Murphy was a starter then (in LF) and is still healthy and starting (at first). (Anyone remember how Murphy hit a HR and drove in both runs on opening day in Santana's 2-1 win? Seems like a lifetime ago, doesn't it?) Schneider was out for 6 weeks in April and May, but is also healthy now.

And, of course, Wright is supposed to be back in a few days.

Perez is hurt my asshole. More like he sucks like he did in the beginning of the season, and their taking him out of the rotation so that at least maybe next year they can make SOMETHING out of the $12 million a year payroll that they wasted on this fat loser.

I don't think they're lying. Not that I would credit his knee with his performance this year, but they would just have put him on the DL if they were just trying to keep him out. There's no reason to lie about surgery.

No. He was injured, but he wasn't declared out for the season until yesterday, I believe.

Ahh, so he was on the DL. I knew I wasn't crazy (well, at least about that.)

The payroll of the Mets DL is higher than eleven teams.

If you look at the payroll of the people who have been on the DL at least once this year, it is over 115 million

Dude the Mets aren't going anywhere... they wouldn't be profitable anywhere else... this isn't 1955 with no left coast teams. The best thing ever would be a sale by the Wilpons. My vote would be for Mark Cuban... if he can build a winning basketball team out of the Mavs imagine what he would do in NY with no salary cap? Ok let's be real MLB would never allow Mark Cuban into their little circle so maybe can find the baseball version of Mark Cuban. I was truly hoping he would have bought the Triple A franchise known as the Pirates. I wonder if it's against the rules for somebody to own two teams? Can we sign Artie Moreno up?
