Valdes does a good job getting a hit, and then doesn't slide and is thrown out at second. "Of course he's not going to slide, he's a pitcher?" McCarver, are you really that stupid? Any major leaguer should know how to slide.
The record for scoreless innings to start a game is 23. The Astros beat the Mets (of course) 1-0 in 24 on an error in 24th. link
oh my god. is this really happening? we will not win this game. frankie needs to pitch now. he's our last chance.
I want to be on record as saying this is my favorite game of all time. This team sucks, so I'm not as invested as I would be in a previous year. But nothing's better than a shortstop pitching to a reliever in the 18th inning of a game, then watching the reliever get a hit only to be thrown out by jogging into second. Just fantastic.
I really feel bad for you mets fans...This is humiliating. Lopez, seriously? 6 hits in 17 innings Terrible base running National game on FOX...so everyone is watching at bars and at home on saturday night Mcarver sucking the cardinals nutssack This is embarrassing...WFAN will be fun tonight or whenever this game is done.
The thing is, as a Met fan, I'm not even remotely surprised. I keep waiting for us to lose it on a balk or wild pitch. Or Yadier Molina hitting a walk-off followed by me downing like 10 beers.
