This team is sooooooo much farther than every Mets fan thinks. The fact that Omar has left this team with no pitching depth, no hitting prospects besides the one 19-year old OFer.

Despite getting Santana, Maine and Perez, Omar has really screwed this team into the ground.

Willie's desperation to have veteran players has killed this team already.

    Fire Omar and Willie please.

i think you guys are panicking way too early in the season. you definatley have one of the best teams in the NL and the bats wont stay cold forever. at least you're not 0-6 like the tigers.

Can't win now with an 80 year old brittle left fielder who never plays, a sub-par right fielder, a horrible offensive catcher, a $16 million first baseman who can't hit a lick anymore, Mike Pelfrey as a starting pitcher, El Duque and Pedro who never pitch.

Not to mention, when one of them get injured or completely suck, there is no one in the farm system even worth calling up.

    Look at the Red Sox.

10 of their 25 players are starting and home grown, yet they still have a ton of young names waiting in the wings to be called up in Brandon Moss, Jed Lowrie, etc.

They have solid veterans to compliment them, where as the Mets veterans are almost way too old to play or are just awful.

Omar can't draft. Pelfrey sucks. Mulvey wasn't projected to be anything higher than a 3 or 4 starter. Not to mention, he traded two hard-throwing right-handers in Matt Lindstrom and Henry Owens to the Marlins for Jason Vargas and some other no-name. Could have used those two last year and even this year.

Between Omar's inability to draft key players and Willie's problem with only having veterans on this team, the Mets are fixing up to be screwed this season. There are obviously adjustments to be made, and there isn't a player in the minors that can make that difference, not to mention, there isn't enough talent to entice other teams to make a trade for a key player.

It's fine if you want to 'win now', but for the love of God, don't keep sacrificing what is left of the farm for that reason.

please explain how they are one of the best teams in the NL. they didn't make the playoffs last year, and only upgraded one position on the entire team - Santana. the rest of the team is same or worse than last year, and they weren't one of the best then, so I fail to see how they magically become one of the best now.

not going to panic yet, but the weeken series against the Braves played out eerily similar to how last season ended. no one able to come up with a clutch hit in a big spot. I know its only April, but that's a disturbing pattern. I actually feel more comfortable with Chruch, Pagan and Schneider at the plate than anyone else.

Wright shows an amazing propensity to choke against Braves pitching..no matter what chump they roll out of the pen

and c'mon. for chrissakes, how many times do you have to face Smoltz to at least get a clue.........not that I want make it sound soo easy because he is great, but he throws a heater straight down the middle soo many time on the first pitch..........once it's 0-1 you're in big trouble......
