That's good although thinking about Glavine against Braves + Smoltz isn't a good thought

Apparently, it's not only Angel Hernandez who SUCKS on this crew.

Wow, Angel Hernandez is really a joke. How can he possibly be a major league umpire?

Which doesn't alter the fact that Delgado has GOT to be taken out of the cleanup spot.

Glavine hasn't been that bad against the Braves recently. With guys like Kelly Johnson, McCann and Francouer I'll take my chances with a lefty on the mound.

edit: well, not francouer I guess. I could've sworn he was a lefty.

Also, for all those proclaiming gloom and doom and the Mets inability to beat the Braves this year, they could've easily taken 4 out of the first 6 had it not been for some poor defense and the white Mel Rojas.

They didn't and that's the bottom line. The Mets have to beat the Braves, not come close. It just seems the Braves are in the Mets' heads and that has to change PDQ.

Sure, if they play them in the NLCS they have to beat them. I'm confident the Mets are the better team, so if they drop a few close games in the regular season I'm not going to start freaking out. Just because a completely different group of Mets couldn't beat a mostly completely different group of Braves isn't any reason to start worrying.

The Mets have more to prove than the Braves here. Its alot like the Jets and the Patriots. Until the Mets prove they are the better team, and so far this season they haven't, Atlanta obviously is holding the edge mentally. If the Mets get swept this series, will it be time to worry then?

Well, they dominated the NL last year and are in first place in the division again this year. I'm not sure what kind of mental edge you think Atlanta has over them.

No...Just no. Head to head series only mean so much; the Mets proved themselves the dominant team last year, and this series will not prove who the dominant team is this year. The Mets, however, are in the position of strength simply because they are ahead.

Head to Head. I know you guys don't think much of it but it's undeniable. If we point to last year as a dominant year, the Braves can do the same by pointing out that last year was an off year.

Last year was last year. Its a new day and the Mets have to do it again. Atlanta has become their main competition and yeah, looking down the road, they will most likely finish 1-2 barring some renaissance by the Phillies or the Marlins.

So far this year, the Mets haven't played like they own Atlanta. Its almost been the reverse. It wouldn't hurt the Mets to win, if not dominate these next few games. Competitive isn't good enough.

We just had a great home stand, beat some good teams. Losing 2 in a row, even if it is the Yankees and the Braves is just part of the ebb and flow of a long season.

I said it before, 1 of 3 and and we leave in 1st by 1.5 games. 2 of 3 which is still entirely possible, and we leave Atlanta 3.5 up. This game was ugly, but it was just one game.
