yes, that's what I was hoping for. 8 innings from their pen so far. Unfortunately, the Mets have not made them work hard enough.
Got this from a Mets forum (via LTS): Met OPS by inning: 1st - .865 2nd - .727 3rd - .835 4th - .772 5th - .728 6th - .829 7th - .691 8th - .685 9th - .628
The Mets are obviously not good late in the game, but I'd be interested to know what those numbers are in general. I would bet that OPS numbers are lower in the 8th and 9th because of good relief pitching. (I know that that is a concept we're unfamiliar with, but there actually are teams with good relievers.) Also, home teams that are ahead (and therefore better in general) don't even bat in the 9th.
Maybe, like me, he wants to watch Nastia Liukin on the Jay Leno show. I'm out for the night. Hopefully, the Mets will win this game. If not, they should win on Wednesday night.
at least this time Werth didn't score on the hit, I guess. C'mon, strike out Hamels. A GIDP would be better.
if they get out of this inning, it means 1 thing: the mets can only lose when they get ahead first, otherwise itll just play to no end
This has to be the worst outing by the Mets announcers I've heard in a long time. They keep talking about the decision to have the infield back as if it meant something positive. In fact, Wright hit a soft ground ball, and if Manuel had had the infield in, the Mets wouldn't have scored the seventh run and the Phils win in 9 innings. They act like him bringing the infield in would have somehow been conceding defeat when it is of course the exact opposite.
Wright just saved the game, for now. I'm really convinced baseball is scripted. Bases loaded, 2 outs here in the 11th for Jimmy Rollins of all people? He has 5 hits on the night...
