Awesome...This race is pretty interesting; the '07 Mets wouldn't have won this one. Hopefully the '08 version pulls it out.

The Phils fans will be saying exactly the same thing in about 45 minutes, so I guess we have to be satisfied.

Now the Mets need to take at least 2 of 3 from Florida.

I wouldn't be satisfied with a split if I was a Phillies fan, but I wouldn't be distraught, either.
If you are trailing by half a game coming into a 2-game series in your ballpark against the team in front of you and you get a split, well you are now in the same position you were in prior to the series and you are two games closer to the end of the season.

I'm starting the Carlos Delgado for MVP talk. Ok his avg could be higher but the guy is going to hit close to 40 HR's and have well over 100 RBIs. He is the everyday 1st baseman on a 1st place team. Now maybe Reyes and Wright mean more to the team but since Willie got fired Delgado his avg has gone up 30 points, and has 20 HRs. Honestly without Carlos this team is 5 or 6 games back and there is no talk of a playoff push. He has been the most consistent player on the team since the middle of June. (I have to admit I was counting down the days until he could have been released but I think you almost have to bring him back now)

Maybe you can make a case for Ryan Braun but other than Pujols I don't know who in the NL deserves the award. Utley? Honestly even if the Cards don't make it you give it to Pujols but who else is even in the discussion.

what NL hitters are in the running for MVP?

Pujols, for sure. Dude is incredible.

Braun, Delgado, Holliday, Berkman (bad team, but a great hitter), and maybe Utley as well.

I'm giving it to Pujols easily, if it's up to me. Despite the time missed to injury, he's tearing up the league.

Stokes does have a higher OPS than Pujols, though. :p

I think I'll watch the Phillies game to root against them. I hope their bullpen is feeling the pain. Too bad it wasn't a Wrigley Field afternoon game.

They brought up Fabio Castro today to help out. Sent down Carpenter, who pitched last night.

Eyre threw 3.2 the last two days, appearing twice. Lidge threw 1.1, appearing twice. Madson threw 2. Condrey threw 2.1. Seanez pitched 1.2, appearing twice. Romero threw 1, Durbin threw 1.

^ The Marlins won two World Series and it didn't do a lot for their attendance.

unfortunately, the Phillies scored in the top of the 1st. Utley doubled and then Victorino drove him in.

1-0, as Hamels mows down the Cubs

Hah! No one understands your post, since I didn't mean to post that here!

That was exactly my point during "the great Rays wars" a few months ago - that the support for pro sports in Florida is terrible across the board. This was a very offensive post to a certain Rays fan who used to post here.

    fun ending.

Utley hit a deep fly but Johnson caught it and Rollins had to go back to first. Then Burrell broke his bat on a kinda bloop. Johnson caught it coming in and nearly doubled Rollins off of first. He had trouble gripping it and then made a weak throw.

Then Howard popped out to Ramirez, the hero.
