If Schoeneweis walks Myers he should be cut before he reaches the dugout.

Well, we'll know tonight if this is the game that ends the Mets' season.

That was worse in-game strategy than anything Willie Randolph could have done.

Phillies start a series with the Cubs in Wrigley after tomorrows game with the Mets if I'm not mistaken. Phillies need to go on a streak, and perhaps it may have started tonight.

With a leadoff triple there isn't much choice there.

The Phillies have won 8 of their last 9 games. The streak began a while ago.

There has been too many losses like this to say that this will cause the end. We've already had 3 losses almost exactly like this against the Phillies alone, and the 4th loss just as bad was a loss when we had that Santana v. Happ pitching matchup, there has really been only one game all year against the Phillies that we didn't choke away and that too was a 1 run loss.

Of course, the difference now is that the Phillies are hot, and the media will now jump all over the notion that the Mets are choking late in the season "like always." This is undoubtedly the most important moment of Manuel's tenure as manager - he has to convince the team that this loss doesn't mean anything more than the simple fact that the bullpen is a weakness of this team that has to be overcome. What he can't do is what Randolph did last year - ignore the issue as if it doesn't exist, and say "we'll get 'em tomorrow." He has the great fortune that his ace is on the mound tonight, but that also leaves no margin for error - if Santana goes out and loses, the pressure on Manuel and the team will increase exponentially.
