someone tell the Phillies announcers that they're in Philadelphia, not Shea Stadium. How many times are they going to say "here at Shea Stadium"? "Heilman has had rough games here at Shea Stadium." and then he said it twice more, I think.
Brett Myers should've given that mask to his wife.* Some lunatic keeps screaming "YO YO YO" and it gets on the broadcast. *- Myers is wearing a mask currently in the dugout.
That's about what I thought. Their OPS was lower in the 8th than in the 7th, but relative to everyone else it was better, and it was much lower in the 9th than in the 7th but relative to everyone else it was about the same.
Which I also said right from the start. And before we say that for sure, we need to know the typical variability in those numbers from inning to inning, from team to team. This pattern could be completely consistent with random chance. I'm not saying that I believe that, but by themselves the numbers don't prove it one way or the other.
A sub-100 sOPS+ means the Mets splits in those innings are worse than the league average splits in those innings. Horrifically so in the 7th and 9th.
oh, I figured it was like ERA+. Horrifically so in extra innings. Smaller sample size, but tonight's sad performance makes it even lower. Phillies have no relievers and no position players left. Tomorrow's starter, Kendrick, warming up.
