time for Martis to be sent to the showers

    64 pitches and 6 runs.

    Beltran really hammered that.

6-1. How sad is it that with 21 outs still to go we can't even feel remotely comfortable with this lead?

^^ Not even in the same time zone as remotely comfortable, I'm afraid.

the Nationals don't have a good bullpen either. 5 run lead? I feel good, actually. Strange feeling as a Mets fan.

it'd be nice if someone could beat the Phillies. They're going to win their 6th in a row tonight.

up 6 runs, Knight walks 3 guys. Geez...

He's not long for this game. Hopefully he can make it through 5 and then he can be pinch hit for.

Bonifacio singles to drive in a run. 7-2

Knight looks bad in both the 4th and 5th, but somehow manages to get out of the innings, much to my surprise. Manuel won't play with fire for another inning, but that only means that now we get to see the bullpen.

Milwaukee up 3-1 in the 3rd.

that's how it happened, which is good.

Unfortunately, Anderson grounded into a double play. Dammit, Marlon.

Mets bullpen: 5 batters, 3 baserunners. Alberto Gonzalez tries to steal third on ball 4 and gets thrown out. Sometimes being an idiot trumps being bad.

nine more outs to go and the Mets will be one more night closer to the playoffs

In October, I may bump the Tigers-Yankees playoff thread from 2006. That way, their fans can pretend the Yankees are in the playoffs.
