    Is the mess even correctable?

It's now two days later and they're in third place, 1 1/2 games ahead of Washington. Do you seriously think they won't be in fourth place by next Thursday?

deGrom put on the DL. Complete assurances that it's purely precautionary, and he'll only miss one start. We shall see.

Mets take their first lead in a game in a week. If you ever want to know how bad it has been, that pretty much says it better than anything. Amazing.

And now Cespedes singles, goes first to third on a hit, scores the second run of the bottom of the first ... and then leaves the game, presumably with an injury. You just can't make this shit up.

And Thor continues to be unable to get hitters to swing and miss, and gives up a home run in the top of the second.

"Hip tightness" for Cespedes, whatever that means.

And the Mets complete the brilliant 0-6 home stand. How fitting that the last out is made by Nido, he of the .370 OPS.

    Damn this is depressing.

Also didn't think for one second that Jacob wasn't going to miss any starts.

Nice story about PJ Conlon and his major league debut, but he couldn't even get out of the 4th inning pitching against a team that belongs in AAA, which is not what the Mets were looking for.

Woo hoo! Mets barely avoid blowing two 5-run leads and a 4-run lead to the worst team in the majors and win!

Amazingly enough, the Mets have traded Matt Harvey to the Reds for catcher Devin Mesoraco and cash. They manage to break even on money and get a catcher who could potentially have an OPS higher than .350, so it’s a great move. As a bonus Harvey has to spend the next 5 months playing for an awful team and living across the river from Kentucky.

The Reds might be hoping he shows something and possibly Trade him themselves.

I’m sure they’d love that, but I personally think he’s shot.

In other Mets news, Todd Frazier has been put on the 10-day DL with a hamstring injury.

    Matt Harvey ----> Vargas

Just 2 runs. Could have been worst.

Giant victory as Vargas holds them to two runs.

Obviously the pre-2017 All Star Game Vargas was a mirage - he was terrible in the second half last year and is at least as bad now.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this last night but after the Cespedes double, they pinch ran Reyes for him. Bruce hits a weak single to RF, how the hell does Reyes stop at 3rd base. That was terrible coaching and base running. Cabrera then strikes out and Frazier grounds into a Double play and we get no runs.

Losing 7-2 with 11 Ks to this piece of garbage team. What a joke.
