Tommorow might have to be "Met flu" day.

It's amazing that people still have these types of attitudes.

That column is too stupid to even warrant saying how stupid it is. (Oops.)

Someone should point out to him that baseball has never been healthier, and last year only one team in the top ten in payroll won a playoff series, precisely because teams are now able to find cost-effective players who can actually contribute to a team winning, thereby increasing most fans' enjoyment of baseball.

Murry Chass better watch out, the "nerds" are ganging up and grabbing their new age cyber-pitchforks and e-torches.

What do you expect from the New York Times. As Bill O'Reilly says they are only interested in printing the news that is fit to print in FRANCE! hahaha.

Sabermetric baseball stats have given new life and new insight to the game!

Don't let the French tell us how to play our sport!

Henry Chadwick must have been treated the same way.

Indirectly Mets-related: it looks like Kris Benson might be gone for the 2007 season.

What a great deal ultimately for the Mets - having El Duque and John Maine for this guy, plus avoiding the Anna Benson circus.

It has nothing to do with color. I hated the look of Bronson Arroyo's cornrows. But I am happy to hear that Lastings Milledge has shaved his. As Jose Reyes said when he saw him "Man, you look great Papi".

I don't care about his hair, but I hope Lastings treats the baseball like Ike treated Tina.

I'm really pulling for him to succeed and prove all the haters wrong.

Lastings will be our #5 hitter by next year.

Lastings Milledge went 3for4 today raising his spring ba to 345. I am going to be VERY PISSED if Omar includes him in a July 31 trade for a starting pitcher.

This was the tune people were singing last year, meanwhile Milledge didn't even play in the postseason while Trachsel was ruining the Mets season on the mound. Nothing is more important then starting pitching.

I agree with your statement, but I think the point is to still get the pitching, but not to give up MIlledge to do so. The guy has 5-tool player written all over him.

Milledge still has not turned 22. Major league hitters say they have not seen a faster bat than Lastings. He gained 20 lbs this offseason weightraining, taking his weight from 185 to 215. He is going to be a major league hitter, IMHO, that gives you a .320 ba, 25-30 hrs, 25-30 stolen bases, and passion. I just don't want to trade this guy.

That is fine and all but if all we can get is freaking Joe Blanton, it isn't worth it, I just hope Willie's love of old player won't stop Milledge from getting the chance to start

With Alou and Green as the competition, I would be shocked if Milledge doesn't get plenty of opportunities this year (Willie seems to be very sold on Endy as only a backup). The issue, I think, is whether he will show enough to go from being trade bait to the (future) starting rightfielder by the end of July (I expect Alou to stay the starting leftfielder for 2007, assuming he doesn't get hurt).

Too many Alex Ochoa's for me to get excited about prospects anymore. Not that trading for Alomar helped the Mets at all but there's another "5 tool" player that was worthless that people didn't want to see them trade.

This may just be my relentless optimism but it seems the more hyped the prospect is with the Mets the more they suck.
