Deion Sanders was a great cover cornerback, but I agree with you that there were some better cornerbacks. Mel Blount, Mike Haynes, Night Train Lane, Lem Barney, Rod Woodson and Jimmy Johnson were probably better players. Bailey, Barber, and Brown are on the same level as Sanders. I rank Sanders above Law, Green, Walls, Hayes and Allen, however.

i think the hatred towards the media on here has gotten out of hand.... once again the author or the article is not that off base....kerry rhodes is not ed reed and after last year gave no reason to believe hes in the same league....kerry rhodes was IMO totally ineffective this year.... calvin pace....i guess point taken but hes not all that dominant...i think he said flexible players....pace maybe can rush but can he stop the run??? gholtson lol
I remember Merrill Hoge saying he didn't know Canada was a different country. edit: this is not a joke.
LMAO.... I see u know nothing about football by naming most of those guys. Deon is the 1st shut down CB. His nick name says it all PRIME TIME
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFGucgncvYo I like Clemens but yeah Hogey is pretty wrong on most parts when it comes to evaluating prospects. Said John Beck was better than Brady Quinn, cmon Hogey. Cmon. :rofl2:
Pace and Rhodes are mediocre players, I thought Rhodes could be special but he went backwards big time this year. Did he ever time a safety blitz right the entire year? Embarrassing. On the Pace side, he is a serviceable player but nothing to write home about, 5-6 sacks a year, nothing special here. We need a John Abraham type player, oh yeah we traded him.
It's hard for Pace to get sacks when he's in coverage most of the time and not rushing the passer. It's hard for Rhodes to make any impact at the LOS when they have him lined up 10-15 yards from the LOS backpedalling at the snap to prevent anything deep.
This may be the only time I have agreed with you, but you're right Rhodes is soft. He doesn't hit like a safety should hit.
I don't know what he said mid season, but here's what was said right after the draft. Nice work, Mel. http://ccww.wordpress.com/2008/04/2...y-draft-weekend-thoughts-and-other-rumblings/ "→ Interesting exchange between Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay last night regarding the picks they thought didn’t make sense. Todd: “ I think the Jets made a mistake taking Gholston so high. He is not as athletic as everyone believes, he takes games off and just has a lot of question marks. I don’t think he is going to fit well into their overall defensive scheme.” Mel: “Are you kidding me. This was a great pick. He is going to fit in perfectly and I will tell you right now, Defensive Rookie of the Years come from the rushing linebacker position he is going to be playing. “ Merrill Hoge jumps in: “In order to play that position, you have to shed a block. He can’t shed a block. Have you seen him shed a block? “" No, Merrill, we have not seen him shed a block.
