You have a point with your first paragraph. I disagree with your second paragraph. It's your opinion that he only did decently last season. Baldinger was raving about him and his HOF potential. Others were very high on him as well. He has not disappointed, at least not most fans, and there's zero evidence to suggest that the Jets were disappointed.
Watching the replay our OL was awful. We thought Becton and Tucker were our strengths but they were awful. Our TEs can't block either. We have nobody who can block. Nobody. There was one play where it's Becton and Tucker versus one defender and he splits both of them. On the play three different defenders hit Wilson at the same time. Multiple plays where multiple people got beat at the same time. They have to go back to blocking school.
he weighed 40 lbs less at Louisville and he was the biggest guy on the field every game. It’s not comparable He’s fatter and the competition is bigger, faster and stronger at this level. And he can’t stay on the field
Agree he has to play at a lighter weight!! He could lose at least 20 pounds still keep muscle and I be quicker on his feet
Injury prone is not just about missing full games, it's also about constantly coming out of games and playing through injuries at 75%. It's always commendable to do so but he definitely gets the shit kicked out of him unfortunately.
I’m one more injury away from being ready to move the fuck on from this guy. He was awful when he was healthy in camp/week one and he’s rarely healthy. Doesn’t just affect the games he misses but also the games where he’s getting back into shape or trying to rebuild chemistry. I wanted Lamb so badly with this pick. I’m happy with the way things turned out with Wilson, but something tells me we’re going to be looking back on this one and saying “fuck”.
When it’s that bad it’s time for “trust but verify” with your OL coach and OC. These lineman didn’t forget how to play but it’s entirely possible that they still aren’t clear on their assignments in the new offense. Becton’s offseason + game one performance has provided plenty of reason for concern. AVT is the same situation only he missed the offseason as opposed to being embarrassed during it. And of course, it’s only game 1. Unfortunately, the Patriots are game 2.
THIS. And I want this guy to succeed. I am big fan. But you are starting to see the cracks in the foundation here...and it has to do with: his size and his ability to maintain his weight for NFL competition.
It's most likely an MCL sprain or MPFL tear if there's any ligament damage. Patella dislocations are quite fun, I've had 3 of them.
Dislocations are trick in my experience. They have a nasty habit of popping out again and again. This could be a problem for some time.
Not good. My niece has the same injury. Hers has popped out 4 times in the past 3 years and she’s athletic and does PT every day for it. Doctors said it’s a lifelong type of injury. I’d imagine it’ll be much more problematic for Becton given his weight and occupation. Here’s hoping it’s not.
The bold is spot on. Good Lord people are gasping for straws to make a point. I'm coming to the realization that many of the people here either don't watch or pay little attention to the game. It was an absolutely freakish roll over his leg by the defensive player that could have hurt any OL. Weight had fuck all to do with it. I was also at the Rams game and saw the same thing to the Bears OL. I'm convinced more than ever that the only thing that is SOJ in this year NY Jets is the negative take on each and every player by some of the fan base.
MCL sprain is probably better than an MPFL tear and a mild MCL sprain will heal on its own. No MPFL = less knee stability and more likely to dislocate again if not surgically repaired.
