"weeks away" from returning https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ekhi-becton-will-be-ready-to-return-for-jets/ Injured Sept 12th, diagnosed with a 4-8 week injury. Will be 10 weeks on Sunday and counting
Guy can't stay on the field. Needs to lose some weight and move to the right side. Can't have our LT out for half the year on a regular basis.
CC: all the people who said people were overreacting when Becton first suffered the injury. It's not easy to come back from leg injuries at 400 lbs folks.
Trade Becton, keep Fant at LT position, 29 years old, sign him for 2 more years start looking for his replacement. Fant has been better and healthier than expected at the LT spot.
Cmon guys, he is a big guy, the injury some one fell on leg while he was engaged. Stop bashing the guy about his weight. Of course he needs to be fit to stay healthy, and if fit, weight won’t matter. I was at the game, quite honestly I thought he tore his ACL. That’s how bad it looked close up. Give the guy a chance to heal up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The point is he has been unable to stay fit through 1.5 years of his career so far. He came into the league with weight concerns and came into this last offseason with weight concerns. We can hope the lightbulb goes off and he turns it around but why should we expect him to when he hasn't so far?
All valid concerns. But let’s see what he looks like after he heals. That was not a trivial injury for a big man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll never understand why these guys don't just call Uber or get a limo with a driver. They have the $$$.
Who would ever have thought this sentence could have been typed out on here and not laughed out of town afterward
If Becton was living up to his potential none of us would be concerned. He’s not been healthy. I’m hoping for the best but the direction he’s trending in is not in his favor. Fant is outplaying Becton right now and he was not a first round top pick. I actually thought Fant was going to be bad at LT but he is doing a great job. Funny thing is I blasted JD for the Fant signing when he was playing RT but obviously I was wrong, Fant was a good signing, he was just playing out of position.
I can see Becton doing Pro Wrestling in the future too. I just don't see his NFL career lasting very long before his body gives out.
There is a world of difference between being unable to stay fit and getting an in-game injury that has nothing to do with your weight and general fitness level.
Becton's conditioning/health really worries me and admittedly kind of holding my breath on him, but definitely too soon to call him a bust. Let's see him get healthy and be on the field for a while. Have to give props to Joe Douglas though for his work on the OL, particularly depth. They lost their LT, who was arguably their best OL last year, and yet the unit as a whole has been alright. It's amazing OT hasn't been a major issue, but the Moses signing was huge. Yeah, it still needs work (cough, GVR, cough), but it's better than it's been in a while IMO. Not sure if LDT will do anything positive at RG, but it was a really worthy flier and got Daniel Brown out of here.
Granted -- every situation is different. Its just a difficult pill to swallow right now watching Tristan Wirfs quickly becoming 1 of the top RT in the league (drafted 2 picks after Becton by TB). For me, the 2022 season will be make/break for Becton to stay healthy at the very least. If he can just stay on the field, - I'm sure he'll play well.
