Shit... now it's a "situation"... I hate those. But since we're now a fact-based forum... Becton has looked like shit since camp opened. Dems da facts...
brick was part of an elite o-line with no holes and also had the best C in football calling out protections. I love brick but in reality he was always an average to slightly above average starter for a long time. was never really elite but never bad outside his rough rookie season. becton as a rookie was much better then brick was as a rookie and was on a shit o-line
Brick should've had an All-Pro nod in either 2009 or 2010 or both. He was that good in those two years, despite your valid point about having elite players around him. Even though he won't get in, he's on the Hall of Fame ballot for a reason. He was an above average player for his entire career. Becton as a rookie had a great run blocking second half, was mediocre at best in pass protection (but plenty to build on) and looked like he regressed in game one and got hurt for the second year in a row.
Speaking of D'Brick.... alot of people were shitting on him.... until Faneca came in a plugged the sieve between him and Mangold.
Becton will be a bust. Who wants in so they can say they called it first? Refresh my memory. We're people killing JD for picking him?
Sieve is a wonderful word. Kudos. No, I believe people were happy with any of the big four tackles. There's also an aura of happiness around draft time for Jets fans. It's our SB.
he did have a couple of really good years but that was a time where there was quite a few elite LTs in the NFL that always got the nod. in 2009 the pro bowlers were jake long, ryan clady, with joe thomas the reserve joe thomas. brick was an alternate. that same year faneca and mangold were starters at the pro bowl. we had 3 offensive lineman in the pro bowl . the other 2 were branden moore and damien woody both were above average. our o-line was insane. in 2010 the pro bowlers were jake long and joe thomas. clady IIRC got hurt that year. Brick was the reserve so he jumped up a spot there. mangold was the starting C at the pro bowl. the rest of the line was the same except slauson took over for faneca a 6th rounder in his 2nd season and played well thanks to the talent around him but after the line fell apart he got pretty exposed for not being good. oO while brick was great with us, he was never at the level of joe thomas or jake long which is why he wasn't all pro. brick was a top 5 LT for many years in his prime and still a top 10 in his worse years. but mangold was a top 3 center every year of his career which helped the whole o-line.
He gave up 9.5 sacks in 2011 which was worse than Wayne Hunter. I can only imagine the hate spewed in this forum
Anyone watching TNF? Chase Young just split a dbl team of Thomas (LT taken 11 spots ahead of Mechi) and the Giants' LG. Spun them both around like merry-go-rounds. Or turnstiles...take ur pick. Chase sacked Jones hard. Fun shit! I guess the Giants' LG is someone named Gates? They're taking him out on a strecher....they won't show the lower leg injury...to gruesome.
Take away one run for 40 yards and tell me what those numbers are. The Giants OL is most definitely not a good benchmark LOL.
ya saquon got bottled up for the most part....but they kept going to him and he busted off a 41 yard scamper...!
I think the gmen have a worse oline than we do. Their #4 pick Thomas at LT almost got benched last year he was soooo bad. Not much better this yr.
