A-no chance this team ever takes him

B-even if they did, sounds like he really doesn’t wanna come back

If he didn’t seem to be such an unwilling participant that just walked into some bad luck with injuries then yeah for sure.

But he seems lazy as shit and I wouldn’t want that influence even out of a fringe player in the locker room.

Yeah, I am a big Joe Douglas fan, but there is no doubt his 2020 and 2021 first round picks were epic failures. So much so, a normal GM could be fired for them. It just so happens he hit it out of the park in 2022, evening things out.

As for Becton returning, I wouldn’t mind it, but I doubt that happens. You’d assume he will have an opportunity to compete for a starting spot somewhere else.

Surely this guy has the potential to be decent if given a change of scenery and a fresh start. Cheap one-year deal. No-brainer, right?

And yet he's still unsigned. Speaks volumes.

Without the second sentence, it's just an anonymously sourced quote.

I like the thought but just because he hasn't been signed doesn't mean he's been humbled. He's just as likely to be disgruntled about having to sign here if it's his only option.

This was way more than getting injured all the time. I've come to the conclusion that Becton has a couple of screws missing. Being in shape is a condition of your occupation if you play football. People were acting like we should all be proud that he went poopy in the toilet and was finally potty-trained or something whenever he slimmed down and did what he was supposed to.

I was glad to hear it, of course, but he never came across as particularly responsible. It was the Jets fault he was eating jelly doughnuts like Private Pyle, I guess.

I briefly considered this possibility a while back, but since have come to my senses. All the reasons against bringing him back stated above are solid. and the only reason for bringing him back - OT depth - would likely not be something Becton would want to be and even if he sucked it up and tried, he's just not that good.

Douglas simply needs to make getting a stud OT the #1 priority for a change. It's by far the single biggest need (until Rodgers gets hurt) this team has.

The dude played his worst in essentially a "contract year".... if that's not a red flag, I don't know what is. He'll be signed somewhere due to his size alone, but he better not be expecting a big payday...

Saleh has been critical of Breece Hall too. Until the offense gets at least mediocre i think his commentary for that side of the ball should be received with a grain of salt. (Personally he's giving me Rex flashbacks)

He did. That's how we ended up with Becton in the first place.

JD has used 2 first round picks plus a second round pick on Oline. At some point this team needs to develop some of the talent it has in-house or we'll be wasting high picks for an eternity.

Which OL talent would that be? Warren? Mitchell? Newman? Eze? Deculus? Glaser? Gurman? Hanson? As far as I'm concerned, if you could take the best traits and talent of all those players and roll them into one player, you still wouldn't have a quality starting OL. You might get a solid backup. It's just not that talented a group of players.

He didn't have a good one, but maturity also matters. Quinnen Williams is a classic example of that on both counts. He was focused out of the gate, became a quiet leader and a great player. His personality reminds me of D'Brickashaw in some ways.

As soon as Williams got his braces off It was like a lion got let out of a cage. A non-sequitur that doesn't mean anything, but funny how that was. I thought the braces were endearing, btw.

I might be the minority, but Will see how the draft goes and that will cement Becton’s future. If the first pick is a LT he is gone for sure.
