I have to disagree with you here. I get your theory and I understand where you are coming from, but I just don't personally believe this. I have read for years that players and coaches hate the preseason and think it is too long. Preseason games expose players to injuries. The numbers of knee injuries in preseason games is eye opening. Coaches don't necessarily need live games against other teams to make adjustments and gauge the value of each player. That's what practice is for and what live scrimmages are for. There is a solid argument that goes both ways, but if they did away with the preseason, I wouldn't mind that at all.
