McShay 2013 AFCE Draft

    If we have the 9th pick in the draft we better be drafting a QB.

    Because only way were that bad is if Sanchez ends up throwing like 10 TDs and 35 INTs and Tebow isnt much better

    In all seriousness, I think this time next year we'll be furious we did not draft Mercilus.

    Not that Coples is a bad player or that Mercilus is better than him -- Coples is going to be our best 3-4 DE and down-DL pass rusher IMO.

    But Mercilus could break out right away as a stud in Houston opposite Connor Barwin. The Texans will be protecting big leads a lot led by Foster, Schaub, and Andre and teams will have to go shotgun pass-only late in games -- leading to an extra 3-4 sacks for Mercilus.

    I see 11 sacks in his rookie season, with 50+ tackles. Physically he should be able to do a lot of what Mario did in that scheme when he was off to a tear (no pun intended) before getting hurt for the season.

    Why should we draft a DE 3 years in a row?

    He is better than what we had but who gets moved to DT or LB or 2nd string if that is the case

    depends entirely on how Howard plays. If he dominates, why waste a pick? If he is hideously awful, I might prefer a FA to a rookie, given certain situations.
