I think some fans simply fancy themselves smarter or more intelligent by trying to argue that the Jets shouldn't draft the obvious best player in the draft. There's no reason to reinvent the wheel. The fact is, the Jets have absolutely nothing going for them on offense or defense. Its not like they only have one crucial hole to fill and they're a superbowl team. The only correct approach is to take the best player available, and it's clear that one player is head and shoulders above all the others.
I hope the Jets win a couple more games. being that the Pats have SF's #1 pick, I want the jets and St Louis and Miami to win a couple...but I have little hope for Miami, so it's up to the Jets and the Rams to win a couple and move San Fran's pick higher.
I can see it now, Pats win the SB off an undefeated season and have the top pick in the draft. Top pick is probably unlikely but top 5 is pretty much a guarantee. Unbelievable, bastards.
Top 5 is about right. I don't think they'll actually use it, but value is value, and they could trade it easily if they want to.
look, you're right about this, the OL wasn't addressed when it should have been. however, i'm willing to believe that the FO lives and learns, and they won't ignore it again as they've found out the hardest way that it was a majorly bone-headed mistake. so, wouldn't you want McFadden along with an improved OL?
Oakland might be the only team standing in the way of Miami, Jets, NE picking 1,2,3 in the draft. I believe the Rams will win a few games the rest of the way.
When you have a top 5 pick, there is always someone who wants it. I have no doubt they will get offers. How good are those offers? I don't know.....but I expect the phone will be ringing, at least. Incidentally, it may not be a bad idea, if the Jets trade their pick as well. Right now, if I'm the Jets, more is better...but again, it depends on the offers they get.
Tony Mandarich, Mike Williams, Leonard Davis, Robert Gallery say otherwise..... D'Brick I dont want to throw up there but 2nd round talent Marcus McNeil has outplayed him and has been to the pro bowl so that shows you in later rounds that theres talent with the O-Line.
OK I agree the Jets do need some serious help on the defensive line and O-line, but here are some reasons why we MUST take Darren Mcfadden if available. First Chris Long looks very good, but if you read many scouting reports he doesn't have mind blowing athletic ability. Top 5 picks usually do. will he be solid yes but not mind blowing, unlike Julius Peppers or somethings. Glen Dorsey is the only guy we should even think about takin over D-Mac. But he doesn't really fit in our D. Second if The pats have the pick after us as they do right now, if they get darren McFadden they have the most Dominate Explosive offense by FAAAARRRR of all time. We can't let that happen. And Last and most importantly, who says Kellen Clemens is a lock to be the real deal. Flashes yes, but its been two games for goodness sakes. And what does a young Quarterback need offensive weapons. Why not give him the most explosive player available in free agency, or the draft. this guy has blazing speed, great vision, and is more powerfull than most give him credit. With a young foundation on d with Harris and Revis, why not start rebuilding with a young foundation on O with KC and McFadden.
Put a Mauler next to Brick and as soon as we win some games, Brick will be a probowler year in and year out. He?s developing great this season. McNeil was overrated, cuz the Saint were so hot last year. If we could redo the 2006 Draft, i?d take Brick with the #4 pick again in a heartbeat.
Hi Everyone, Noobie here, sick of previous Jets board I was on. They pretty much have given up talking football and if you disagree with a Moderator in any way, then threaten to kick you off. I hope this site is better. At least there is some footbal talk going on! Over there everyone is posting pictures of their dogs. Anyway, life long Jet's fan, the illness was passed down from my Dad...so I blame him. Don't give up...it can only get better, right? (Please say yes.)
I wouldnt go that far. Last year i can agree w/...but this year IMO Ferguson has clearly outperformmed McNeil..who also happens to have a serious back condition which could limit his career length.
No way the pats would take McFadden even if he fell into their laps. They just used a first rounder on Maroney....not going to happen
When your stacked with talent, you pick the best player avail, no doubt. The Pats would gladly take McFadden.
Absolutly right, when you don't have any holes to fill you can start taking the best player. Pats* would scoop him up in a minute. I don't think they are all that thrilled with Maroney anyways. And the don't have much depth there.
