You don't think Sanchez's confidence is shot? Some of those easy passes he had, he was off on. He couldn't execute a screen pass. We might have ruined Sanchez past fixture.

McElroy completed more than 2 passes today.

Like I said that's IF they decide to bite the bullet and take the hit.

If not then they'll stash him on the bench as a backup/3rd string and they will probably bring in Michael Vick, Alex Smith, Matt Moore, or someone else. Sanchez is done.

But the 18 million cap hit is getting rid of him. There is no cap hit for keeping him and just letting him be a backup. That seems more likely, getting a Matt Moore type and letting Sancehz be the backup, not start.

I know it's going to take a miracle to get rid of Sanchez's contract, I ahve been saying since the middle of year, we are stuck with him. But I do think we sign a journeyman QB and that journeyman QB beats out Sanchez. Rex was clearly forcing it to work with Sanchez this year and he couldn't get it to work with him.

    Not at all.

    Gilyard.
    Gates.
    Rheuland.

    Sparano,

Sanchez was up GMacs ass like a parasite, because he knows the situation.

Confidence? Not Marks problem, except insofar as he is not on the bosses office bitching. Marks problem is NOT being a prima Donna.

Hmm interesting. Obviously I hope you are right that Sanchez will show up because that's 8 million saved but I just don't see it happening. Sanchez can be bad in addition to our WRs being bad. Like the decisions he has been making recently has been bad regardless of the lack of separation of our OC and WRs

Yeah thats true. I dont think guys like Ben, Eli, Romo could survive this offense, Only Brady, Brees, Peyton, and Rodgers might

I haven't seen the breakdown but it ceratinly didn't seem like he completed very many passes after the 1st quarter of course maybe he did as most of our 1st quarter yards came from Kerley. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong, but they showed the statistic. Midway through the 4th quarter we had 78 yards of total offense after the 1st quarter.

Why don't we give McElroy a long leash? I think we are by letting him start next week. We drafted Sanchez 5th overall and paid him a ton of money. We drafted McElroy in the 7th and aren't paying him anything. It might not be fair but that's reality. McElroy needs to play much much better then he did today in order to even be in the discussion just based on economics. I spent a few years working in minor league baseball and I would see it all the time, guys drafted high with big signing bonuses would routinely be given multiple chances while guys who were drafted in the 30th round and getting a 2K signing bonus would outplay them and get sent packing because of $$$.

one of the options that the jets need to consider is maybe starting McElroy in '13. We need to use this upcoming draft to solidify the defense (OLB, LB) and adding depth to the o line. Let Greg start next season, then in '14 draft a QB in the 1st round, lets make sure we fix the issues on this team before we bring in the next franchise QB. We aren't as far off as people think.

Agreed, we need to use this draft to address what we really need and that's linemen and linebackers. Let them sign a FA quarterback to breath down McElroys neck in preseason. I'd even take a running back over a QB in the draft.

You guys are being unfair. The passes where he underthrew the receiver would have been caught if the receivers had been closer. Th lost fumble wasn't his fault, someone knocked the ball out of his hand while he was tying to tuck it in. He could have thrown 2 TDs today if they hadn't run the ball with Greene those two times near the goal line and elected to pass instead. He's already proven he can hit a wide open tight end in the end zone, why didn't the tight ends get open more?

anyone thinking mark would have been better is an idiot.

anyone bitching about Greg McElroy in a meaningless couple of games or even trying to defend him is also an idiot.

If he sucks at least we'll know more of what he is heading into the offseason and training camp.

i'm glad to hear this. mcelroy put up 17 points in his first start. and that's despite being constantly under pressure. i suspect he'll actually learn and improve. i wasn't feeling that way with sanchez the past couple years. so this is a good thing.

Considering it's his frist start and how bad the OL played (some sacks were o Mcleroy but overall shit shit protection) I don't think he played that bad. At least he didn't look like a scared puppy out there.

Don't get me wrong, I think his role in the NFL is probably good to VG backup (someone like Shaun Hill) but overall I don't think he's the reason we lost yesterday. Unlike Mark...

McElroy should get the start next week but that doesn't mean he played well yesterday. Sanchez is done for the year & Tebow/Jets want to part ways ASAP. McElroy is our starter by default.

If McElroy has a repeat performance against the Bills there's no way he should be penciled in automatically as the starting next season. My guess is that it's gonna be an open QB competition between Sanchez, McElroy, some cheap JAG.

Would it be a good idea to start mark? He did play very well against the bills last time. He is going to be back next year whether we like it or not and I dont think it would be a bad idea to try and give him and the fans a little confidence going into next season. My heart us saying McElriy, but my head us saying sanchez (wow, can't believe that happening).
