I am sure that the trainer and team doctor said that Marshall can play, and this is why McDaniels is upset, Guys play nicked up all the time, if the team doctor and trainer say a guy is healthy enough to play, and he refuses i have no problem with the coach benching him. It probably helps McDaniels in the locker room as guys feel Marshall is quitting on them with so many other guys playing through minor injuries
Just because the trainer and team doctor say he can pull through the pain doesn't make it so. Remember, those guys are employed by the franchise which desperately needs to make the playoffs and couldn't care less about Marshall's longterm health (because he's certainly not gonna be around for too much longer.) Marshall reminds me of T.O. in that, as much as he may be a distraction and an ass off of the field, he leaves everything that he has on it. If he says that he can't go, he can't go. If McDaniels doesn't believe him, even if McDaniels is right, that's not a battle that he should be fighting through the media anyway. Like I said in my last post, if you want Marshall to start acting like an adult start treating him like one. Talk to him face to face, don't question his toughness to the media.
It turns out he was benched not because he said he couldn't play but because he didn't show up on time for a physical therapy session, and his teammates felt he was quitting on them once he got his 100 catches. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4792471
Fair enough, at least he did something concrete to bring on the punishment. McDaniels was still incredibly amateurish in the way that he handled this through the media though. Not to mention that losing a do or die game to freaking Kansas City is an embarrassment. I really don't think highly of the guy (in case you couldn't tell.)
We get another chance to trade for him..good. Let's not forget this is still all coming from his contract situation.
