lol I was sort of joking about the Idzik 2.0 thing But anyhow I bet you were saying the same sort of thing in Idzik's defense one week into FA last year: "Just wait. He has a plan. You'll see..." The top FA corners are now like Culliver and Cro. He's gonna have to overpay for one or both. Sorry but Ron Parker at FS instead of McCourty doesn't get me excited.
Eagles severely overpaid fir Maxwell And Jackson stayed with the Texans Not much else we could do about a CB Mccourty stayed with the Pats
I probably was...But I am more positive about this hire, last year we all thought we were going in on Flowers...Once Flowers signed with San Diego, I started losing hope in Idzik
Absolutely, it's kind of sad, our LB duo was probably every bit as good as Carolina or San Fran, yet we just struggled with TE's all season. Nobody makes Scott Chandler look better than we do... he owes every bit of his contract to New England. Jace Amaro probably will soon, too.
I hear you. I love Bowles and want to like Macc as well. I love the Brandon Marshall trade. This is Macc's first rodeo as a GM dealing with FA. No way to know what he is thinking really or what communication is taking place behind the scenes. Let's see what happens Tuesday.
Marshall actually did better when McCown was starting, plus he was injured as shit last year. Besides, Cutler is a scrub.
Can't blame McCourty for wanting to stay in NE. He'd be JAG anywhere else he went just like every other Patsie scrub who leaves in FA. The Pats have the best cheating dept in the league and always put him in a position to succeed.
I get that NE signing McCourty does not mean they can't sign Revis. But I have to think it makes it somewhat less likely. After all if they had let McCourty go they'd be in a better position with cap space and have more money to get Revis than now.
Brady/Belicheck ain't gonna be around in 3 years so they don't give a shit how much they spend now by mortgaging the future... They want to win another ring or two and then get out and let whoever is left scrap up the pieces.
For what it's worth: CSNNE.com @CSNNE 34m34 minutes ago There's a sense the @Patriots may sign Darrelle Revis today. But the clock is ticking. http://tinyurl.com/n3ewmwo @tomecurran #PatriotsTalk Obviously there is work to do if he isn't signed already. Also relevant: Jeff Howe @jeffphowe 16m16 minutes ago Source: Patriots have allowed Brandon Browner to explore value around NFL http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/patriots_nfl/the_blitz/2015/03/source_patriots_have_allowed_brandon_browner_to_explore_value… It sounds like it's going to be complicated to keep NE's top 3 guys from last season together, Browner is probably making half of what he could net if he were a UFA this season and NE still has Butler, Ryan, Dennard, and Arrington at CB as of right now. I'd still rather keep Browner, he was great as our #2.
string - the line "obviously there is work to do if he isn't signed already" is that coming from you or the original tweet? sorry just difficult for me to tell. with Revis, if we learned anything over the years, until the ink is completely dry, and/or the fax machine is humming, a deal is far from being done.
Revis now officially a FA. let the legal tampering begin! fwiw, Pats still actively trying to sign him as well..
I used to care about the Patriots but they are now just so far removed from where we are its just not even worth worrying about it - we are a bottom feeding team until we sort the QB position so I am struggling to really care what the Pats do - just plan to ignore then until Brady retires and they have to remember what its like trying to compete without a top tier QB
