If anything this means Revis is also staying. Revis and McCourty were a duo, they won a championship together, McCourty is known for convincing guys to stay, and now the Patriots can focus all their attention on Revis.
??? We have 4th most cap space in the league and aren't even mentioned as having been in the running for McCourty? What does "very active" mean to Macc exactly? Feels like Idzik v 2.0.
Can some of you people wait to judge Mac's free agency once the draft finishes? Damn shit, Idzik 2.0??? sigh
it just occurred to me...maybe the pats know they won't be able to win a bidding war against the jets for revis, therefore they're going to lock up mccourtney so they dont lose out on everything. it'll also convince revis to come back since he was good with devin, it'll be their selling point that they're going for another ring. but at the end of the day, they are on the defensive, and trying to convince revis with something other than money. they also have their doubts about getting him back, I say don't let the pats win on this one and do whatever it takes to sign revis
No, I can't. Macc is also "very interested" in Brian Hoyer. McCourty would have filled a huge need. We are awash in cap space. The top guys are disappearing from the market. Come Tuesday there is not going to be much if any top shelf talent left.
No it didn't. Free agency starts on the 10th. Friday marked the date when players who will be free agents are allowed to legally talk to other teams. Free agency doesn't start until Tuesday, hence the countdown on nfl.com Seems like you missed the memo
He's already resigned Harris and traded for Brandon Marshall. All reports are that the FO is locked in on Revis. Maybe he made a play for McCourty and he didn't want to come here. It's way too early to rush to any type of judgment.
I understand that. It was an emotional reaction on my part. None of the reports I have seen so much as mentioned the Jets as being suitors for McCourty. I saw Giants, Eagles, other teams.
Drafting a safety in round one last year might be part of the reason. I have a lot more faith in the potential of our safeties than our corners right now.
He is just saying that a lot of the best talent out there is already committed to a team, and we haven't gotten a single commitment. That sucks, and is bs because of all the cap we have. Is it wrong to fly off the deep end already? Yes. However, it's perfectly ok to be worried right now.
