Just as we did with the Ghost? I know two different players but do you think they would be more hesitant on someone that has that pop up anywhere in their file?
Was just reading up on some prospects on CBS Sports when I saw this mock that has up taking Griffen and Wootton, which all in all seems good to me. I was reading up on Odrick and saw this and couldn't resist posting it: Despite the positional problems, looks like a good Steeler pick to take over the mantle from Big Ben.
No question Odrick at 29 would be one of those right guy, right team and right value picks. Unfortunately, I think the Patriots are going to make sure that does not happen.
You never know how the board will fall. Having said that, if the Jets don't sign Taylor, then that OLB spot is more of a need IMO. I think in that case we need to look at Jerry Hughes if he falls or Everson Griffen. But in an ideal world we could be in a position to take Odrick.
Yes, they are different players. Let's highlight some of the differences: -Griffen has a more complete understanding of the game than Gholston. -Griffen has multiple moves which he uses to disengage from blockers. Gholston can bull rush his blocker and then the question mark over his head appears. -Griffen fights off blockers and attacks his gap assignments until his conditioning fails him. Did you watch the video? Did you happen to notice that all of the examples they could find(except for one) happened to come in the fourth quarter of the ND game? A game where Griffen spent the other 3 quarters playing his heart out. Oh, and that other play? USC up 30-3 against Cal with five minutes left in the 4th quarter. Yea, he just doesn't give a shit. Gholston's assesment in this knock: completely disappeared from games. Anyone comparing Griffen's effort to Gholston's is out of their goddamn minds.
I wasn't comparing them as players was questioning if we would draft a guy that had it in his report known for taking plays off. Because of the fear of another bust like the Ghost.
Every poster wants to compare just about every OLB prospect in the draft to Gholston so I figured I would go ahead and throw in some information on Griffen. As for your question, I believe I answered it in the last point of my previous post.
