Sanchez over Stafford was a bad call no doubt. Everybody liked Stafford more.

However Mayock must have learned from that experience and to pull the big switch 3 weeks before.... It's a bit odd...

My sense tells me that because he's rubbing elbows with scouts at pro days more than through the collegiate season he's been swayed by a few trusting voices in his circle that favour Mariota.

Just heard him on the rich eisen show. He said it's because he just couldn't ignore all the interceptions last year and because Jameis no way you spin it has off field issues

He's felt that way since the combine. He never really wanted to put Winston at the top.

"I have now elevated [Mariota] on my ‘Big Board’ of quarterbacks coming as the No. 1 quarterback," [Ron] Jaworski said. "He’s as clean as a whistle, you have nothing to worry about off the field, and he can make plays."

if one has to follow up his decision to rate one player over another with "clean as a whistle" and "don't have to worry about off the field" it makes me question that decision, I'm sorry. This is football scouting - - not scouting for people to date your daughter.

I understand Jaworski probably has plenty of football reasons for supporting Mariota, as yes, he's a good prospect. I also understand that off the field is important to a degree. But if its the first & second thing he says about the guy to support that decision it makes me concerned he's overemphasizing it or making a point to be critical of Winston's off the field shenanigans as opposed to looking at Mariota's on the field play.

basically - I want to hear a respected analyst say something to effect of "just by looking at their play on the field only- I rate Mariota as a better player" its never that.

I agree; his endorsement seems more fabricated than Mayock's.

    How's this for on-the-field analysis?:

Ron Jaworski knows what it takes to be an NFL quarterback. He was a pretty good one, after all. The former Eagle and current ESPN analyst did his homework on the top quarterbacks in the draft, watching hours of tape, and ranked the top seven as such: (1) Blaine Gabbert, Missouri; (2) Newton, Auburn; (3) Colin Kaepernick, Nevada; (4) Christian Ponder, Florida State; (5) Ryan Mallett, Arkansas; (6) Jake Locker, Washington; (7) Andy Dalton, TCU.
"Quite honestly, I saw blemishes in all these guys," Jaworski said. "With none of them I don't feel as positive as I felt about [Atlanta quarterback] Matt Ryan a couple years ago."
Here's Jaws' take on each quarterback:
    On Gabbert:
"Gets the ball out of his hand quick and can make all the throws. . . . Got the big, strong arm. . . . Didn't play under center, played in that Missouri spread offense. That doesn't bother me a whole lot. . . . Sometimes moved from the pocket too early. Am I concerned? Just a little bit. . . . But he can extend a play. He can take off and tuck it and get positive yards. He can take off and move outside the pocket and throw the football and keep his eyes downfield."

I don't understand how so many people fucked up on Gabbert that year...

Jaworski loved Kellen Clemens coming out of college.
    Nuff said

Jaws is just trying to get his name in the paper...

Mariota should be #1 at QB on everyone's list if they watched him play last year compared to Winston.

Whatever, just remember: that assessment will now be NINE years ago.

Kellen Clemens, a guy who came into the draft with a broken wheel.

Clemens never got a real shot to be the starter with the Jets.
