That's what we need. 3 midgets.

    Id take hernandez though.

When will people realize harvin and holmes are essentialy the same player.

Minny has no wrs aside from him either why would they trade him.

    This thread is pointless

I think Harvin is a much better player than Holmes, but I get the comparison.

Harvin isn't tall (about the same size as Holmes). He's anything but a midget, though. Dude's strong as an ox.

    a. Not sure what Harvin's actual value is but he's worth no more to the Jets than a 2nd round pick AT BEST. My hesitation to trade for him would lead me to argue for trading a 4th round pick at best. Don't forget that it's entirely possible the Jets end up picking in the top 10 of the draft this year if sh*t hits the fan.

    1. Holmes would be the #1 and Harvin the #2. Holmes is more talented, more dynamic, and faster (I believe).
    2. If it weren't for Greene/Tebow/Powell/McKnight I'd agree but I think that McKnight fills any "RB role" that Harvin may have played.
    3. Agreed.
    4. McKnight was a Pro Bowl KR last year. And we have Cromartie.
    5. 2009 15 GP/8 GS; 2010 14 GP/13 GS; 2011 16 GP/14 GS
    6. I'd take the upside of any first rounder this year over Harvin's upside (not to mention that I'd like to see the Jets avoid drafting a WR first round)

I view Harvin as a luxury whereas the Jets need health and depth. The fact that he's yet to start all 16 games in any of his 3 years in the league is a big red flag IMO. Now that Demps hasn't been signed Harvin's a possibility but he's definitely worth no more than a 4th Rounder from the Jets' perspective. I could've seen the Jets making this type of move (a la Holmes, Cromartie, etc) two years ago but in order to keep this team viable and competitive we can't keep trading picks for fat (present or future) contracts. If the Jets were to trade for a player of Harvin's caliber I'd argue in favor of trading for a RT or S over a WR; at least in the GnP we don't "need" a strong WR corps so long as the Jets minimize turnovers, play strong D, and run the ball down the defenders' mouth.

All I'm saying is I think bad ass scat backs and monster TEs that can catch footballs like dogs catch fleas, makes for exciting football games.

The Jets having impact players is NOT pointless.

you make it sound like Demps and Rainey will pick up where they left off in the NFL.

theyre return specialists and utility players. Demps has a 4th round grade if your an NFL scout theyre not fucking Gale Sayers.

Hernandez however is a upper echelon TE and I'd welcome him in a second.

Your obviously just a gators fan who wants to see the Jets become Gainesville north.

Harvin is more complete football player but at the WR position their skillsets are almost a wash.

I'm just saying wtf do we do with Holmes in this scenario? its kind of counter productive to have two players of almost mirrored skillsets.

I mean if it didnt cost us an arm and a leg and we could not pay out the nose in cap penalty to move Holmes, yeah id be all for it.

but this whole scenario is LALA Land to me.

Also Holmes route running has slowed down and he will be hitting the infamous 30 in a season or two.

Harvin has time on his side (4 yrs younger) which would be the deciding factor for me.

You're obviously just a Jets fan who accepts NOT winning Super Bowls and thinks winning a play off game is adequate. Admittedly, being a Gator makes it harder for me to accept all losses.

My appreciation of impact players has little to do with being a Gator, however it is true watching the Gators play football has given me an opportunity to watch many of the impact players that now play in the NFL.
