Signing Mawae will make the Dolphins a toughre team. Now he can beat the piss out of Zach Thomas in practice all week long instead of just twice a year.

Dream on Tiny Tim... Mawae is a banged up shell of his old self. He's not, and hasn't been one of the better centers in the league for a long time. He got injured after getting trucked by Sam Adams who fell on him on his way to the QB... All it takes to get passed him is a good Bull Rush now.

That's news to me. He's 35, but he's still among the NFL's top rated at the position. I'm not sure how anyone can debate that, or the fact that he'd be a nice upgrade to what we have in Miami today....

I heard he's doing fine right now, and it wasn't like his knee was blown out or anything major. I'm sure wherever Mawae ends up, he'll be playing at a very high level. He was quoted saying "They're making a big mistake", and that tells me that he's ready to come out and make a statement in 2006....

    Ok...

watch some tape of him against the better NT's in the league over the past 3 years...

Ever heard of a look out block... he's got full command of that one

Definition of a look out block... Fall down and yell look out...

No offense Ellis-92, but Mawae is still one of the best 3 or 4 centers in the game... and the Fins would be doing themselves a big favor by signing him. He would isntantly upgrade their entire OL.

I thought Mawae's play has been steadily declining for at least 3 years now. He misses a ton of blocks, and he pulls, in our schemes becuase of lack of athletisism in guard position and our CS seems to know that he struggled against good NT's... that my view.

Mark my words, if the Fins sign Mawae and Brees, they will be in the playoffs THIS COMING JANUARY.

the jets let him go, so we should blame the Front office not him, personally its going to suck to see him demolish our crappy D-line but hey if he still has it, the jets deserve it

Mawae would be a solid signing for Miami. Adding Brees would make them instant playoff contenders. Their defense still I think is primed to take a step back however. It's a very old unit with just about every key player over 31 years old. May be able to make a run this year but in the near future they're going to have to start infusing that unit with some youth to continue to be one of the better ones in the league.

I totally agree, TBirdMan. I've been kinda lookin' at Mawae that way too now.. for several years even. He's a hell of a pro-bowler in his prime, but I'm afraid his days are numbered. Miami wants him as a backup only, I'm sure.

I really don't think Mawae has much left. Heimerdinger tried working out Mawae in a more spread out offense then didn't let him pull outside and he was absolutely horrible at it. He's a nasty player when he has an angle, but he really can't line up and knock over anyone.

The field has gotten bigger and bigger too. I mean, young guys coming into the league are just physically larger people, they get bigger every year. At 35, I'm questioning if Mawae can still take on these handfuls. I don't think I'm wrong about this either because it appears Mangini and Tannenbaum had the same thing in mind.

Yeah, Yeah, I think we all get it. Now that Mawae isn't on the Jets roster he's old and injury prone, he's got nothing left in the tank, he's probably a locker room cancer and he'd make for a good back up.

    Yada, yada, yada......

I actually wish we had kept Mawae, but as a backup. I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have accepted a lesser amount to just stay on the team and retire as a Jet. So no, I don't think I'm exhibiting sour grapes, but I do think Kevin's skills have diminished considerably. Maybe I'm wrong.

Our FO saw it that way too though, I think, because to my recollection I don't remember reading that money was the issue. And I don't think it was so much the lousy $1.1 million or whatever we saved on the cap either, because that could have been restructured somehow if both parties wanted to. It was something else, and sadly, I think that something else was diminished skill at the position. Believe what you will.

Don't let a few people's opinions make it seem like it's everyone's opinion. I think Mawae would be a good addition to any team who gets him, a leader and still a top player at his position, maybe 1 more good year left in him.

That's like me saying whatever ever Blitz' constant bullshit is what I think every Phin fan says or thinks, but I digress. You're at least a respect Fin fan

    Later.
