It's ridiculous that #68 does not finish his career with the Jets. I believe with a Super Bowl win in 98, Kevin's a surefire Hall of Famer, (and he may get there yet).

Given the choice between #68 and #28, I'd rather see the pullin' Samoan retire in the green and white.

Nice job KW, you will be missed.

:) JI gets more traffic, not by much, but nevertheless they do. As for which site is the best, that's just a matter of opinion. I am sure JI regulars think that JI is the best.
Also, JI has quite a few people on their staff. They have writers, photographers and webmasters. TheGangGreen.com, on the other hand, is basically me, myself and I. I post the news, take pictures in training camp, build the website, and now I design the site as well.

    So, here's your answer :)

He's a surefire HOF'er anyway. He will definitely be missed, but I can understand the direction the new management wants to take.

The post proves to me that Kevin Mawae has always had "rabbit ears." He listens to the fans...for good or bad.

I agree with LV Coach that the signing of Kevin Mawae and his play for the Jets in his first few years here were part of the rebuilding of the franchise under Parcells. Mawae played up to his Pro Bowl hype for most of his tenure here, until age and injuries started to dilute his talent.

I also think he has something left in the tank, but I understand the Jets' new FO wanting to go in another directions. That said, I wish him well and expect to see Mawae enshrined in Canton one day.

Come to think of it, there is a poster on the board here that has 3:23 plastered on his avatar. This is probably just a coincidence, but who knows.........

That doesn't seem to be what he is saying. Mawae wrote: "this decision is not about money, but more about the direction management wants to take the team." That seems to say that even if the $$$ were there, he does not think he is in the Jets plans.

I think GG doesnt have a writer like JI has. This is why he chose JI.

    GG use to have one.

This guy has been the heart and soul of this team. Remember all of those NFL films videos - he is hilarious on the field. This is a bad loss for us.

For the record, Colossians 3:23 says : "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for men."

I agree, this is the one player I didn't want to lose. I'll still be following his career no matter where he goes.
Thanks Kevin for giving it your all.

I punched it out a couple of times this morning, why? It describes the posiiton pretty well. The fulcrum as you are aware is the pivotal part of a lever. The associations to the offensive line providing leverage for the entire offensive productivity is a pretty good one. Mawae being the center and the leader seemed to go hand in hand with fulcrum.

I made the point earlier that cutting Mawae made very litle sense from a cap management standpoint. Mawae only represents one side of the version of what really happened, and I think there is more to the story. With no backup center in place, the paltry 1.6 mil cap savings won't be enough to sign his replacement. Did the mutiny he led against Groh come back to haunt him now? Did he ask for a raise and extension, and after being told no, got on the radio with his agent?

You may recall, his agent said he "thought, or was given the impression" that Mawae would be cut. If there was any doubt, there wasn't any after that radio interview. The next day he gets cut. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Mawae talks about fan bias, etc..... but when he complained about no garanteed contracts, he never mentioned the garanteed up from signing bonuses players get. He usually only presented one side of these kinds of issues..... his. I think he's doing it again, here.

I'll never question him between the lines though.... he left it all on the field when he played.
