rex still talk, but he doesn't say things the way other coaches do. Even though he is making brash bold statement he isn't being all coy with his answers. Do you believe your team will win the Super Bowl? Yes i believe we will. Other coaches same question: Well you know we have been playing well, and will take one game at a time and see what happens. They would give the same answer to do you think you will lose in the first game of the playoffs? There is acceptable coach's speak and what rex does...rex just answer honestly and gets killed for it. What did he say so bad this week? It's personal? Seriously? He hasn't beaten Manning in all his years...he takes the defense as his and if his defense isn't winning he is letting everyone down. The media just like to take what he says and read into it over and over. They could ask him if he wipes his ass after he drops a deuce and if he said yes they would dissect it because he didn't say well i see what is in the bowl and take it one sheet at a time.
Ya, I really have no idea why Mawae thinks he is relevant. "If I was ten years younger and the Jets didn't have the best center in the league I wouldn't have stood for my coach to tell me what to do!"
The players love Rex. I really don't care about what guys who are not in the locker room think of him. Least of all the assholes who think they need to have a pity party for the players because they think he talks to much. Indianapolis delenda est.
I was reading a quote by Freeney tonight. He said that every player he's talked to loved playing for Ryan. If Mawae is on the NFLPA's negotiating team, and I believe he is... no wonder there is no progress in talks. Aside from what he said about Rex, he just made inflammatory comments about the owners in a transparent attempt to garner sympathy for the players. Public negotiations never work... ever.
I could be wrong but isnt Mawae the president of the union ? Thus making him a big time left wing pro-union total nut job?
He isn't the pres, but he has a high union position. Mostly he's a mouthpeice, and a bad one at that. How stupid is he? He comes on NYC sports radio to garner public opinion in favor of the players, and he trashes our coach. Brilliant Mawae, just brilliant.
It was his mouth that got him cut by Mangini more than his age or salary ever could. Indianapolis delenda est.
Not the union, he's president of the Players Association.. that DeMaurice Smith guy is the president of the Union. Either way, he is high ranking when it comes to the players union.
Now I'm not going to trash Mawae here for having an opinion. The guy was an excellent center here for a long time and I thought he was great. His comments sound like a guy who is retired. Like the guy many of you may work with who has lost the luster for his job after a long time. You can trash his comments but his play on the field was solid.
